I'm 23, around 5"10 and 77kgs. I'm planning on buying my first bike. After much looking around and getting confused, I decided that the best way of filtering things down was to prioritise ABS. Compromise on anything but safety is a good motto. In addition, I don't know how much touring I'm going to do; but it would still be a better bet to invest in a 200cc+ bike. Just in case. My budget is around 1.5l.
I was initially considering the Apache 200 and FZ25. The Apache has insane value for money, with the dual channel ABS, slipper clutch, instrument console and so on. But something in the bike is still missing; it doesn't have that X factor.
The FZ on the other hand is beefier, which I like, and more relaxed which also I like. And thought the fact that it has better road presence than the Apache, it lacks ABS which is disappointing. Should I go ahead and give it a go anyhow?
But then I came across someone selling the CBR 250R ABS for 1.7. Considering how the CBR has been shadowed by other bikes in the market now, this price can be brought down to 1.5? Should I invest in the bike or would I be better off with the more 'practical' and 'sensible' choices I mentioned earlier?
Also, I realise that all bikes from now on will have ABS but the wait will kill me. In such a case the only thing to do would be to get a temporary bike. I'm slowly getting to love the Impulse. I could get this now and wait for a better bike to release eventually. Incidentally the XPulse looks very interesting but the launch is still ambiguous. But too many people have told me that temporary bikes end up becoming permanent ones.
Sorry about the long post; I'm just very excited. Looking forward to your suggestions.
