  • mid range commuting bike needed

    hi everybody!
thanks for helping out my friend choose his pulsar
now,a friend who works in my office needs a decent bike in the range of 50 big ones
the bike will be used by two persons who are 6 feet 80 kgs and 5feet 11inches 105 kgs respectively so the bike needs to have good pulling power as well as a good feul economy. also the ownership cost shouldnt be high and it is a must to have a self starter.
    the bikes i suggested were
1 bajaj discover 135(no problem wiith looks & excellent pickup)
2 honda shine(just coz its a honda but the looks might hinder)
    3 yamaha gladiator graffiti(power)
4 bajaj xcd 135(just a secondary option coz of the small fuel tank )

    i didnt suggest the following
1 honda stunner(i personally think it wont give good pickup due to the extra weight.{although the rearsets will help in seating} no tacho)
2 hero honda glamour/super splendor(test drove the glamour, even his old splendor pulls effortlessy than that bike , odd colors)
3 yamaha gladiator tpe rs/ss(no point as they have the same engine)
4 tvs flame(his dad does not like tvs{their personal opinion not mine} also the tank extensions hurt his knees)
5 suzuki zeus(yucky looks, no service center in 50 kms range)

so guys could you please help me out here
also if anyone can quote the ex showroom price of the above, it will be appriciated

    thanks

Discover 135 is a really good pick. Next will be Gladiator. Shine doesn't really have anything charming other than the name Honda. And XCD will be too punny.

I would say XCD 135. Its not as puny as the 125.

For everyday commuting with a heavy rider/pillion it has to be the Discover 135 hands down.I have no idea about the XCD 135 as I havent ridden it.Also in case you are going for the Gladiator please make it the Type SS/RS and not the Graffiti. Please go through this post of mine too,for additional details regarding long term ownership experience.

Considering your requirements, I guess you need a heavy torque bike which can pull 105 kgs...

Hence i suggest you to expand your search to a 150cc bike, least........!

Anyways if this is the list, I would sugest you to check out xcd 135...
Its one of the best and smoothest engines produced by bajaj till now with a very good feel!

@nightwing: type rs/ss is totally out of budget although will go to check out the new discover & xcd 135 day after tomorrow
@devil: 150 cc is also out of budget.the cheapest 150(unicorn) is also costing 60000 rupees here.xcd has a smaller tank so ........ but will check it out also the bike has to pull 185 kgs (80+105)

Dont worry, I have used an XCD 125 that pulled 200+ Kgs quite well

But on large humps, there would be a problem

But I believe Discover has got more power than XCD. Isn't it?

                      hey friends
                      decided on the stunner
It pulled him and the pillion and even touched 85
althoug the tacho is missiond and the choke is an eyesore
he will get a black one as soon as the loan issues are sorted out
