  • 80% commuter and 20% touring, ABS, needed,hornet or CBR250 or dominar or D390 or apache200

    Hello everyone,

I need a new bike for primarily commuting and a little bit of touring

What I'm looking for in order

    1. ABS
    2. Comfort
    3. Reliability
    4. LED headlamps
    5. Pillion comfort

    I'm 6'1" and weight about 86kg

    Bikes test driven.

    1. Apache 200 - the handelbar felt a little but too narrow
    2. Dominar - felt ok but the engine is a little but to vibey
    3. Old CBR250 - loved the bike, smooth and refined engine
    4. Gixxer 150 ABS - perfect bike but no LED and felt little down on power
    5. old D390 - Nice power but the bike does not like being at low revs

    Bikes I used to own
    1. RE Himalayan - looked after/used a friends bike for over a year, Insane comfort but terrible terrible reliability and horrible mileage
    2. D200 - I have had this bike for two year nice bike, no abs, not so great pillion comfort

I sold the D200 to a friend as it was getting a bit old and I wanted a new bike.

I don't really go over the speed limits on highways but having the additional power is a useful safety blanket

    What do I buy?

    Query Approved

Check out the FZ25 as well. ABS is overrated
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I had a fall because I locked up the front wheel on a slightly dirty road surface.

I would prefer having the mental comfort of abs. Thanks any way

If you need ABS as first priority then I think you need to improve your riding with a smaller bike first, so the Gixxer 150 with ABS is most suitable. The RTR 200 is the next good option. A used CBR250 for a good price can be checked out if you are ok with service and parts issues which might come up.

The new CBR250R checks all your boxes of Led lamps, ABS, reliability, good commuter, a proven tourer, good on mileage etc etc.
If you can live the decade old looks and even older looking dash, then it is the perfect bike for you.

The Fz25 and the Fazer25 are also good contenders if you can leave out the ABS. But I'd rather have ABs and not need it than need it and not have it. A bike in 2018 that can do triple digit speeds should have ABS.

Check out the NS200 and RTR200 as well, they both have something or the other missing (one misses out on 6th gear and liquid cooling while the other misses out on FI and dual channel ABS), but they are worth a look.

If nothing works, the Dominar should be the obvious answer, and you will have to get used to the vibrations.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

My requirements are almost the same as yours. I am in dilemma between Dominar and CBR 250R. Waiting period of CBR 250R is frustrating me. Dominar felt good but Honda is Honda.
