    Query Approved

I think both bikes should give you the required fuel efficiency.

The older R15s have been bulletproof and as such can be possibly bought with your eyes closed! The Pulsar has also done reasonably well, though there have been reports of a few minor problems.

I would suggest reading through the ownership threads of the two bikes before making a decision.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I have been reading in some reviews that the welds are inconsistent and the plastic quality, fit and finish is not upto the mark in the r15 v3. Do these things matter in the longer run? I intend to keep the bike for at least 6 to 7 years.

RS200 has been there for a while and a true VFM machine. The power delivery is linear. Bang for the buck!
While the R15 V3 is a relatively new entrant, the reviews and the experiences have been positive so far. Has best in class performance an looks. Yamaha bikes are known to last for long with low maintenance(provided servicing is done as prescribed). Should not be a problem.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Take a look at Yamaha FZ25. It's the best city bike.

Out of these two, R15 V3 will always be a better option considering the build quality and maintenance cost.
I have owned the first generation R15 for 6 years and that thing never gave me any problems.
Also the new R15 is more powerful and faster.
However there is one thing you should know, with your height and weight, the R15 will put a lot of stress on your wrists and shoulders when you go on long rides or in B2B traffic, gets unbearable at times.
If you're open to suggestions I'd say go for the Fz25, or the Dominar if the budget allows.
But out of your choices, R15 makes more sense in the long run, you can abuse the engine and it will still sound brand new.

Apart from the usual suspects of the fz25 and dominar, I suppose Apache 200 and ns 200 are also a decent proposition, but I'd say dominar because of the abs and power, a 2nd hand abs cbr with low miles and good condition is a good buy.

I can afford the dominar but cannot cope up with the low mileage it gives. P.S. I'm still a student. So mileage must be pocket friendly.

R15 v3 is the best from your options - fellow xbhp-ian mentioned above that he has a 6yo r15 which gave him none hassle. Besides Jap bikes are super good in terms of quality & reliability, but Bajaj/KTM manufacturing is common so one can expect a better experience for now.

Test drive both to feel them personally - you'll know what to buy then.

Just my two cents, take longish test ride before buying the R15, it is super aggressive, and me being the similar height as you had problems riding it in city also the seat height is also quite high at 815mm. Take a look the nakeds like the FZ25, NS200, RTR200, or of the budget permits also have a look at the CBR250

I have been on both the machines.

I would personally give two suggestions.

If you value occassional touring stints, the RS200 will be better puck, as it isnt too commited as the R15. R15 is meant for shorter commutes. Though the RS 200 works similar, the posture is not as aggressive as that on the R15. On terms of outright power, the two wont be much different. The lamps on the RS200 felt a shade better than the LEDs upfront the R15. That said, the RS200 will drain your batteries more, as its a projector unit courtesy the LEDs in the R15.

If reliability and short rides are the concerns, then you cant find a better pick than the R15. On the design front, the RS is no match for the R15 and you are sure to grab some eyeballs, especially in the Blue shade.

Rest assured, the R15 will be better pick, though touring should be compromised. But do a good test ride of both the bikes and then go with your mind.
