  • Confused Me

    Dear Petrol powered brothers(some are diesel lovers but hey, that's more than 2 wheels).
    Before I pop the question, let me brief you about the bikes I've owned till date:
    Honda Stunner
    Pulsar 150
    Duke 200
    Pulsar 220 and R15.
    I've gotten home a preowned R15 whilst owning P220 so both share the garage space.
    I haven't really felt the connect with the R15 and it could be possibly because of the torque and ease of P220 and that it is preowned - so, I've decided to let the R15 find a suitable home where it is loved(it was very much cared for but it felt like a step-son).
    The twist in the story is - P220 is registered in another state and I didn't have the time to get NOC and re-register it in my current city of livelihood.
    I am now looking for something that will take the vacant place left by R15 and possibly co-exist or replace P220 as well.
    I'm afraid of knee jerk reaction so here are the bikes that I'm considering now.
    * TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0
    * Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS
    * Bajaj Pulsar RS 200(not sure though)
    * Suzuki Gixxer(yeah, I love that tiny angry bike)
    * Bajaj Dominar 400(this is a sweet bike but it costs 185xxx)
    * Yamaha FZ25

    My experience with Bajaj had been good till date.
    The only bikes I truly felt for were P150 and my current P220.
    PS - not a fanboy but I love how light on pocket Bajaj bikes are in terms of maintenance and the bang for buck. They are/might be crude but so full of character.
    Coneset costs less than 400(this is something in the range of being called dirt cheap).
    Ohhhhhhh, I forgot, my family is hell bent to get me married so a scoot(hello NTorq or SR150) or car might be on the way in near future. I just don't wanna give up on riding.
    Can someone help me on this? Anyone who is in same/similar boat - that will capsize after marriage.

    Query Approved

    I don't see any bike besides the Dominar which can be considered a step-up. The Dominar could possibly co-exist with the 220.

    On the 'what to do i am getting married' query, i cannot help you
    Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

    Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

      I'd agree with the admin on the advice : Dominar may very well be your next possible match. If your looking to stay within the 250cc segment , I'll recommend the RtR 200 Abs for the features and spec sheet.

        Out of the shortlisted bikes

        RTR200 if you are on a tight budget. This won't be much of a power or quality upgrade over the 150cc Jap, but the ABS and other bells and whistles do make it worthy.

        Dominar if you can extend your budget. This will be a long term bike, as it consists all the bells and whistles to keep you safe on the road and have enough power on tap that you won't get bored of it in near future.
        I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

          Thanks Monk bhai. You just told the same thing that my heart said. There is no need to let go off the 220 although it is from another state(moved out of Hyderabad but that's the only "Nishaani" of Hyd except the taste of Biryani in my mind.
          220 will have a bigger brother to get advice on performance [emoji16]

          I guess no petrol driven brother can answer that part on marriage [emoji23]

          I did take the test ride of RTR 200 and quite liked it. Being naked and of similar engine characteristics as my P220, I found it to be a proper replacement for my 220. This only means 1 thing - 220 has to go back to Hyd and find a good home and caring owner.

          Dominar could very well be the bike that I can upgrade to before marriage makes me go to Renault/VW/Ford/Skoda showroom.
          I loved how the bike feels light and nimble yet steady on its tracks despite the weight on papers.

          RTR 200 will make me take the decision to let go off the P220 which is a darling to ne honest. I cannot possibly find any other bike that is a proper replacement of P220.

            I agree with the Mod on the Apache RTR 200 4V. It's a quick, lightweight and agile. It will serve you well

            However, It will start feeling inadequate over the long run. You will notice it isn't as much as an upgrade over the P220 as you had hoped for.

            Go for the Dominar. Test ride it extensively. The moment you start riding, its weight disappears. it's stable, powerful and isn't difficult to handle.

              I think RTR 2004V ABS or RS 200 would be a good purchase or Dominor 400 for touring and all that. Test drive will help you decide better.

              Regarding the marriage thing a bike can co-exist with a car - but to be frank you'll not get much time to tour around on your bike unless your wife likes to pillion with you & your family allows that. The only way out is to keep the bike as commuter for solo riding & an occasional trip - hope this helps.

              PS - I don't think the Bajajs mentioned earlier would be light on pocket as these aren't that mainstream.
