  • Which bike -Is there much of a difference between 110CC vs 125cc?

    Hi All,

I am a first time bike user/buyer. Height 5-3 and weight 65Kgs. Planning to buy a bike for city use, around 25Kms daily commute. Is there any significant difference between 110 CC and 125 cc bikes? Will be riding doubles most of the time. Thinking of Yamaha Saluto Rx 110 or Hero Super Splendor 125cc? Maximum budget is Rs. 70k (on-road). Not much worried about mileage.

    Thanks.

    Topic Approved.

There's a noticeable difference between 110cc and 125cc, but you can't say "significant" difference.
You'll have to test ride both to know about this, as we can only describe in words which is basically, not an effective discription.

I'll let actual owners comment on how these bikes are...

There is approximately 14% more displacement in engine capacity in a 125cc as compared to a 110cc - as a result, you will get little less fe. But, if you are to ride with a pillion most of the times, a 125cc is what I will suggest as it will put less stress on the engine. And pretending you will encounter stop and go city traffic, low end torque is what you need. Both the bikes are good enough but the Super Splendor is a little outdated and kind of plain Jane. Saluto on the other hand is one of the most underrated bikes in its segment. It has a carb weight of 112 kgs making it extremely nimble in city.

P.S. - The additional power of a 125cc will aid you in your recreational weekend rides. This is from someone with 51k kms on a 125cc! :-)
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

You mostly ride with pillion, you don't mind about mileage and you have budget for 125cc. So better go for 125cc bike.

Not a lot of options you have, so narrowing it down would be a bit easier.

Shine SP - Out of your budget
Glamour - Even drum variant hits roof of your budget
Shine - Drum variant will come in your budget.
Saluto - Cheapest of the lot.

Don't fancy Bajaj, if you're interested check 'em too
Discover 125 costs same as Saluto
        V12 costs same as Shine

        Take test ride and decide.
