  • Help me to upgrade from Honda Stunner 125

    Hi
Am too much confused about selecting a bike. These are the my requirements
    1.Comfort and breaking (ABS)is priority
2.Daily commuting 25 km in heavy traffic. Once in a two months i will ride 700 to 1500km
3.My budget is around 1.5k( on road bangalore-please keep in mind raod tax is too high in karnataka)
    4.Pillion comfort also required.

    Please give some advise...

    Currently running Honda Stunner 2013

    Thanks

      Topic Approved.

I suggest you to consider between Suzuki Gixxer SF (single channel ABS), or Honda CB Hornet 160 ABS.

The above 2 motorcycles have single channel ABS to keep its price low (Single channel ABS means it will have ABS, only on one wheel, which is preferably at front, given the sporty nature).

If you want the confidence of dual channel ABS, I think Apache RTR 180 ABS should be the best for you in the given range...

As always, test ride before your decide...

Well, my two cents on your query, a little background :
I rode a 2008 Stunner from 2013 to 2016, rode a good 60,000km in those years, bringing to a total of 1,00,000 on the odometer, finally it was time for an upgrade in May 2018, and I had a similar set of requirements (That too in Bangalore). Plus I needed it to be as nimble as the Stunner too.
Test rode many bikes, from the NS200 to the Himalayan and Mojo.
NS200 - Much power, you'll have fun, but I somehow did not have a sense of longevity towards the bike it, felt like it'll fall apart with time, and I can not stand vibrating panels (thank the Stunner irritating me for 3 years). Pillion is high, seat is narrow, lot of complaining was foreseen.
RS200 - Much of the above with marginally lower vibrations, but more body panels to fall apart with time. riding position is very decent and very comfortable, Pillion is OK for short rides too.
Himalayan - Loved the bike for what it was, but felt a little too heavy for Bangalore's traffic, plus no ABS, plus I do not think I'd have use for the off road ability. A good and spacious pillion saddle too.
Mojo - Powertrain was very good, but again, too heavy and strange handling that'll take getting used to, plus ASS status was unknown, plus the pillion saddle is too short to be comfortable over longer durations.
FZ25 - The best of the above, was a little too expensive at 1.54 lakh that too without ABS, but the bike had a addictive 30-80 kmph surge. When ridden alone it does have the ability to get you in tricky situations because it has such an explosive mid-end, felt a little too wide at the handlebar. Me being a 82kg and 5'10", it was manageable but I needed something more nimble in traffic

RTR200 - Then I went to TVS, had a test ride of the RTR200 RV2.0, instantly the pillion is comfortable, bike is super smooth, the panels don't vibrate, the quality of everything is nice. The price for base was 1,15,100 with a waiting of 1 week for anything other than white/grey (Suryapratap TVS, Old Madras Road). and ABS was 1,38,000 with a waiting period of 3 weeks. So after much debate, I went in for the base carb since I couldn't wait any longer.
And boy ohh boy am I loving it, the bike pulls cleanly till you're in the right gear, I haven't missed a 6th gear at 60-70kmph yet (still running in), ABS would've been nice, but it was not a deal breaker for me. After about 3 weeks of ownership, I'm super psyched about the handling and nimbleness with enough surge for most practical scenarios. I am not planning to wring it to 130-140 kmph any time soon, so as a 80:20 ratio for commute and ride, it is just the right balance.
        The bad :
        1. Side stand indicator would've been nice, due to a break in habit, I've left it on more than I'd like to admit.
        2. The diameters of the grip is larger than most motorcycles that I've ridden, and it is still taking time to get used to it.

        Have a great time deciding!

In terms of pillion comfort, fz 250 is better than rtr

In terms of pillion comfort, fz 250 is better than rtr. But i think u should wait for xtreme 200,it will have best pillion seat, low maintenance, more mileage, soft suspension, in short its the comeback of previous generation karizna in form of xtreme 200 [emoji16][emoji16]

Which has more low end pull/torque Fz25 or Xtreme 200, say 20-60kmph

Fz 250 will have more low end, as it produces 20nm of torque at low 6000 rpm and weights same as xtreme 200

Fz25 without a doubt, the xtreme 200 is more of a power commuter.

Xtreme 200R has 14 Nm torque available right from 2000-2500 rpm - so it has more low end torque
