Re: Thunderbird 350x or dominar 400?

After discussing with some current and past owners of RE (Classic 350, Bullet 350, TB 350) the outcome is NO RE bikes ANYMORE.

100% of owners ( colleagues, friends, relative) all told the same points. All negatives.

So no more even thinking of any RE models.

      RE : Blacklisted!

      ============================================

      Now left with two options.

1: FZ 25 with duel ABS. ( May be I need to wait till April , 2019 for this )

      Why :

1: Light weight so easy to maneuver/handle.
      2: Trust on quality.
      3: Very good engine.

      Problem :

1: No touring accessories available from 3rd party vendors.
      2: Weak headlight.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------

      2. Dominar 400 ABS.

      Why :

1: Whatever I need , it offers all.
2: 3rd party vendors supports touring accessories.
      3: Engine from KTM 390.

      Problem :

1: Feels heavy for me as my 1st bike in life ( I am 6 ft., 45 years, 78 Kg.).
2: Not time tested ( as it his will be my first and last bike I want to ensure the quality and as Bajaj as Indian company I am bit concerned on the QC.)

I am planning to buy in Diwali if all goes as per plan.
      =================================================

Can some experts advice which of the following company produce best quality touring accessories for Dominar 400?

      Carbon Racing,
      Lluvia,
      Zana
      Sahyadri

Re: Thunderbird 350x or dominar 400?

Bajaj are not as crap as you have imagined them to be. Especially the new generations; they are reliable and long lasting. Of course it would be foolish to compare them to the Japs. Honestly anything compared to the Japs is going to lose, be it Indian, British, Italian, Austrian or American; that is just a fact. But that does not mean that Bajaj is bad on its own. It is miles ahead of RE in terms of refinement and reliability.

I would advise, not to miss out an a very capable bike just because of wrong prejudices.

If you are absolutely sure that ABS will be factory fitted in all bikes and can wait till next year for the Yammy, do so. But if there is even a hint of doubt or the new is not authentic, then Dominar is your best bet.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Thunderbird 350x or dominar 400?

All 2 wheelers from 150 CC onwards must be with ABS from April1, 2019 in INDIA. This is the GoI mandate and law now (BS6).

Thanks, I am inclined towards Dominar 400 now.

Not here to add any further inputs - just reiterating the same point - D400 is way better than any RE (I have a Himalayan BS3.) Yes the bike is bit heavy but you would feel the weight only when you are pushing/pulling the bike or when it is stuck somewhere or while riding in traffic at slow speeds. But on open roads, one doesn't feel the weight. The seating position is comfortable, the seats aren't that comfortable for long distance rides - but surely that can be sorted. And tons of accessories available for it.

And as you have done the research - D400 has all the tech + comes at a very very nice price. Perfect for VFM.

              Dears,

              Thanks for all your input.

After a lot though process all RE and FZ -25, Dominar 400 de-listed. Yes!

As per my age, personality I would love to go for Cruiser Type only. Never liked Dominar 400 looks at all.

Today called my known source in one of a dealer of Bajaj in Bangalore and the guy confirmed the following.

Bajaj Avenger 400 with 2 channel ABS ready to be lunched by October/November.

Will have better finish then Dominar 400.

              Expected Ex-showroom price : 1.9 L

              More looks like Harly.

Source : Sale exe. of some Dealer in Bangalore. He himself saw the product itself/

              Hope the new is true.
