Need Advice On New Bike Purchase for Leh trip with pillion
Hi, this is Aditya here. I want to purchase a new bike for Leh trip for I will take with my wife as pillion. My budget is around Rs. 1-1.5 lakhs. My height is 5’10” and wife is around 5’8″. I prefer the motor to be fuel injected and the bike should have ABS. I am not much interested in cruiser style motorcycles. I have considered Yamaha FZ25, TVS Apache 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. I am also confused in making a choice between 200cc or 150-160cc motorcycles. Request you to guide me on the same.Tags: None

No. I will use it after wards also. But for short rides i don't have to think much. But for this long ride i had to put my money into right machine. Because the bike on which i can have my leh trip then i can definitely do small 200-300 km rides.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostJust for the Leh trip?
Means you'll buy the bike, ride it to Leh, and then return and sell it off?

But i heard that there is a serious problem in engine some tapet noise & Coin ringing noise. Whether it can be ignored in perspective of reliability?Originally posted by elviento View PostFZ25 will serve your purpose. It has a torqy engine and will not fumble with luggage and pillion on board. Only downside is not having ABS. Which I guess you can live with.

I think they have rectified that noise in the later batches. The newer owners do not complain about this noise. And even if there was noise, the engine itself was perfectly ok. There will be a few niggles in each and every bike but fz25 gives you the best of what it gives. I myself was considering FZ25 but I'm bit low on budget. So looking for alternative in about a lakh.

Riding with pillion to leh and also keeping in mind luggage you will be carrying.. I will suggest dominar.. If low on budget and can manage without ABS.. FZ 25..Originally posted by Aditya25 View PostHi, this is Aditya here. I want to purchase a new bike for Leh trip for I will take with my wife as pillion. My budget is around Rs. 1-1.5 lakhs. 150cc and 160cc bikes will feel strained.. And might be pillion will have to get off at places.

FZ25 doesnt have ABS = Ruled outOriginally posted by Aditya25 View PostI prefer the motor to be fuel injected and the bike should have ABS. I am not much interested in cruiser style motorcycles. 200 4V has FI + ABS option = Recommended
200NS has FI + ABS = 2nd Recommendation
Do check out Dominar as well but it might overshoot your budget.
Since you will taking a passenger (along with luggage I assume) anything under 200cc will not cut it for the trip.
If you want a bike just for the trip, why not look for a rental? For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

I think Both NS200 & apache 2004v are available with ABS & FI.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostFZ25 doesnt have ABS = Ruled out

Like someone said, Dominar will be your best option but it will overshoot your budget.

I will also use the bike after wards. But for daily use i don't have to think much.

Ns has fi and abs
Only fz25 doesn't have abs but its a good bike in terms of reliability and smoothness

Re: Need Advice On New Bike Purchase for Leh trip with pillion
In ns and rtr 200 you'll not get confortable pillion seat, exteend your budget and get dominar. You'll always enjoy it due to best performance of domi, you'll get bored of 200cc easily.Originally posted by #bpk View PostNs doesn't have fi, apache fi + abs is not available till now, only carb+ abs is available

+1 to this suggestion.. NS available in carb+single channel abs.Originally posted by #bpk View PostIn ns and rtr 200 you'll not get confortable pillion seat, exteend your budget and get dominar. You'll always enjoy it due to best performance of domi, you'll get bored of 200cc easily.
Apache 2004v is available in carb+Abs or a Fi version.
Pillion comfort is compromised though nothing is impossible... If you go for any of the options purchase any air cushion like ride on air or fego float for atleast pillion.
