  • Comfortable 100cc bike 2018

    Hello fellow Xbhpians,

After looking through a lot of used bikes and not being able to find well maintained ones, I've decided to buy a new 100-110cc bike with the following requirements.
    • 1. Best in class comfort through pothole filled roads (I'm a 27 year old with a lower back that's slightly older than me)
    • 2. Max budget of 60k on road price (I live in trivandrum)
    • 3. At least 55kmpl mileage in moderate traffic
    • 4. Electric start (dunno if its needed in a 100cc but happy if it has one)
    • 5. Alloy wheels (So that it can be converted to tubeless if needed)

I'm 27, 5'5'', with a lean build. The bike will run about 20km daily (100% city). Long ride comfort is not an issue (Never thought I'd say this about a bike)
Bikes on my mind, based on internet research alone:
    • HF deluxe - the black alloy version looks good, not sure about comfort
    • Honda CD110dx
    • Discover 110

Please suggest bikes that satisfy the above criteria, I'm planning to start test rides by end of the month.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

      Hi,

Blindly buy the new TVS Victor Disc version. I feel it's the best commuter you can get below the 150cc class in India today. Been using it and sharing with employees for our office duties close to 17 months now. Superb fuel economy.

Fantastic suspension, gobbles up potholes like a Versys. Two adults can sit comfortably in the long seat. 60 watt headlight for superior night riding vision. Surprisingly nice highway performance too, reaches 90kmph easily. Good cheap-service/support from TVS too.

A genuine effort put by TVS to bring the Victor brand again and it delivers victoriously.

      Cheers!

I'd also suggest Saluto. Performance wise it's a 125cc but in terms of mileage and carb weight, it's like a 100/110cc. Very smooth and nimble too!
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

                  Visited 2 showrooms today:
Honda: Both dream yuga and neo was'nt available for test rides. Reason said was 'people are buying without test rides'. Honda customers trust blindly I guess.
Physical differences aside, the only mechanical change was that neo had 3 step adjustable rear shocks and yuga had a 5 step system. Not sure if they differ in comfort level. Will try other SCs for a test ride.
Yamaha: The Saluto rx wasn't even on display in the showroom. They said they can arrange for a test drive some other day. Will do that.
Just recently came to know of it's existence and have spotted only one bike on the road yet. Highly doubt if it's selling well.

Bajaj has updated the Platina with better and longer front and rear suspension (they call it Comfortec) in its latest iteration. You should take a test-ride of it since comfort is a priority. It does get electric start and alloys. It is also the most fuel efficient motorcycle in the Indian market by a fair margin, returning 70 to 80 kmpl in city conditions.

I thought it's strictly under 60k. If Victor and dream series made it to the list, you can add Star city+ too.

It is. Dream yuga made it to the list only because I've ridden it before and it felt really good. Now just so confused about the dream series because basically the CD110, neo and yuga are the same bikes with different body panels.
These bikes have tubeless tyres, which was surprising.

Fun fact: I've visited 2 showrooms each of Honda, Yamaha and Hero. None of them offers test rides of anything below 125cc bikes.

Book test ride online and see if you're lucky.
Friends, relatives if anyone owns one of these, try their bike instead.
