  • Need a bike for Commutes

    Hola Petrolheads!

    I am 5.9ft

    70kg

Need a bike for commuting to college and for weekend highway rides.

My budget is around 1.5 lac onroad.

Need it to be powerful (200cc +)
    Only exception is R15 V3.

ABS is not a compulsion but if its available... I'll take it happily.

Fuel economy is a must. Need decent fuel economy i.e 40+ kmpl

    Bike that I have in mind:- Apache rtr 200 4v 2.0 race edition, R15 V3, FZ25.

Also suggest a good helmet under 5k.

    Thankyou

From your suggested bikes, they would barely make 40kmpl.

Go for R15 if you want that premium feel. RTR 200 seems liek a good choice with reliability. FZ25 would be good comfort.

So any other bike that would give better fuel economy and power? Ignoring the cc barrier

I'd suggest you try to get test drive of these bikes - R15 V3, RTR 200 4V, FZ 25, XTREME 200R

coz everyone has a unique preference in bikes. You'll know what you like or don't by riding them once.

Powerful and economical never go together. There will be a compromise in each to achieve your requirements.

I believe the new R15V3 could be an ideal choice if you don't mind the aggressive riding posture. When ridden sanely I've got 40-42kmpl in highways in my r15v2 six years back.

TVS Apache 200 also seems have to good reliability and performance. You will consistently get above 30-35kmpl I think.

              Cheers!

Update:- Now the budget has been reduced down to 1 lac OTR.
So checking out the gixxer sf or rtr 160.

Any idea about the fuel economy of the two??

And any other recommendations would be highly appreciated[emoji4]

Gixxer sf abs is about 1.12 lakh onroad. Mileage is between 45 to 50, also consider xtreme 200abs only 98k onroad in assam.

instead of Gixxer, go for FZ25 or Apache 200

I would recommend the FZ25, it has very good low end which makes it great for the city commutes. The only challenge is the lack of a 6th gear but that won't matter in the city
