  • Advise me for new 150cc bike

    Hello friends,
Firstly pardon me for my English.
Now, I am upgrading from my platina 125 to 150cc territory.
There are lot of options available in the market but I'm unable to choose one so please advise me about a proper 150 cc bike.
    I'm posting my requirements below

    Height : 6.1
    Weight : 81
    Age : 26
    Daily commute: 50 kilometres
Intended usage : daily office commute (should be comfortable for spouse)
    Mileage: not bothered
    Budget: 1 lakh
    Brands preferred: no preference

    Shortlisted bikes

    Bajaj pulsar ug5
    Apache RTR 160
    Hero Xtreme
    Honda xblade
    Apache RTR 160 4v

I test driven all the bikes and I'm unable to come to a conclusion so I need all of your help for purchasing my new workhorse.

    Thanks in advance.

Xtreme and RTR 160 should be the ones if you have to take your wife as pillion. Split seats for a lady - no-no.
Both are good but the RTR160 is more suited for shorter riders. Hornet is another good option. XBlade is a relatively new entrant, so not much idea about it. If pillion comfort is something you look for, take a test ride of SZ-RR with your wife as a pillion - you'll love the comfort and soothness.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

As in any Yamaha, owning it for a long time won't be a problem. Another advantages is that the chain is not open. This may sound inconsequential but in your long term ownership, you'll get to realize it.

Go for rtr 160 best in class power and softer suspension than Japanese street fighters. But if you want saf4 than go for either gixxer abs or hornet abs

You won't go wrong with any of these Japanese bikes i.e. Honda Hornet, Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ. In the honda and suzuki you get the option of ABS as well.

Rather than going for a "Japanese" motorcycle following hearsay I'd suggest you do your own research because common notions cannot be factored in due to reliability being subjective to the type of use.

My first motorcycle being a Honda and having considerable experiences maintaining a couple of Yamaha's for friends I know for a fact that for someone who is looking at long-term ownership and covering considerable miles nothing makes as much sense as opting for a Bajaj. The Pulsar to be specific has been around for ages and the motor has gone through a lot of revisions favouring reliability, plus Bajaj spares are considerably cheaper and availability is not much of a concern considering the rest, plus the latest iteration offers more bang for the buck than ever.

From this list, if you want the latest in the industry get the Apache 160 4V. If you want a bit more involving ride with stiffer suspension for better handling, get the Gixxer ABS.

                            Cheers!
