I would say that since you mentioned, "on the heavy side", a machine with good amount of low end torque can be recommended.

I would suggest FZ25. Blends with the crowd, you're right, but you're free to choose the colour too. A colour like black blends a lot quicker, than others.
Years later, you may go for cosmetic modifications too.

Also, I would like you to, on my advice, shed your thoughts about Xtreme 200, and go for a test ride. I know the feedback its been getting, but let's talk again, after you ride it. Hint:- Power & torque figure is not everything, in fact torque curve also matters a lot.


6th gear by itself is not too much of a necessity in a low powered bike. For something like Dominar, it makes sense, but not so much for others below it. But yes, vibrations are a characteristic of it.


You can also consider Mahindra Mojo, if you're confident on the brand, because it is a good product. Non vibey, touring focused, capable and value for money bike, it surely is. Test ride it if possible.



If you can wait, we shall be expecting FZ25 ABS and Suzuki's 250, but that is about an year away from now...

Go for the RTR 200 ... Owning since past 2yrs pretty good ownership experience. Ample of torque in the lower & mid-range. It can Cruise on highways for abt 100-115kmph all day long With occasional brust of 130is... + The newer race edition has slipper clutch & dual channel abs for added safety. The bike handles like a charm around corners.. Milage m getting around is 32kmpl -34 kmpl in City & on highways its around 38kmpl. Mind u m little heavy on throttle & talking abt the vibs rtr200 is a really smooth meachine there is absolutely no vibs till 8.5k rpm after that u will feel slight buzz on the foot pegs. Hope this info will help u out. Do take a test ride if possible. [emoji56][emoji111]

On Friday (3rd Aug) i lost my mind and was done with the waiting. i texted my brother to come over for the weekend and we will get the purchase done.
the initial idea was to go and get an apache 200 RTR 2.0 with ABS.

i had wanted a bike for a years now but i craving one around January this year then TVS goes in and introduces the RTR 200 with ABS and things get serious and the research began by end of June i had some funds saved up and went to the showrooms for some quotes. i visited the first TVS showroom and they informed me that the company is not offering the RTR 200 with ABS in Faridabad as the streets are not good enough for it to work here it made no sense to me and the sales staff was uneducated and had no idea what a slipper clutch is and what’s different between the old and the new models. Upon questioning the finance guy told us that there is a new showroom in Faridabad, a ‘premium’ one and TVS will sell its flagships there. So off I went there and the sales guys at the new TVS showroom informed me that they will have the ABS variant of the 200 in stock from end of July and they gave me a quote on it and all was good.
I called the showroom at the end of July and they assured me that the bike is readily available and that a test drive can be arrange by dropping in and no prior appointment is needed.
On 3^rd of Aug I went in to purchase the bike. This time around the customer service was crap, no one was interested in attending to us, the sales staffs was missing and the mechanics were roaming about in the showroom and the water was warm. All of it set aside I managed to grab someone’s attention and inquire about the bike. They informed me that it is not available but they can have one arranged from Delhi in a couple of days I told him that I had called and checked before hand and he started to interrogate me asking the name of the individual I spoke with, the date, time and number I called if it was a guy or a girl with the conclusion that I was in the wrong and the bike is not available right away. He then made some calls and offered to have a body damaged bike driven in from Delhi in 30 minutes and sell that to me. This was a big no no. also the fact that in just over 30 days the price of the bike had gone up by 8000 rupees based on their new quote compared with the old one. The whole experience really bummed me out but finally he was able to track down the employee who had gone out to get the bike topped up with petrol and I could have a test ride of the non ABS one.
I got on the bike, turned the key and the reserve light came on. I brushed it off and went off on a test ride. I must say, TVS has made a phenomenal machine! It is so fun to ride and comfortable and the exhaust pops and bangs just a bit during deceleration but the thought of having to visit the same people with the same level of professionalism every time I need to get it serviced or run into any issues scared me and I decided to pay Yamaha a visit as they are down the same road.
It was a night and day difference the water was cold, people were friendly and knowledgeable and I felt like I actually mattered to them! I took the test drive of the FZ25 and the new R15 and I am a proud owner of a blue FZ25 now!
It pains me a bit that it does not have ABS and that the price of 1.48 all in after the finance is a bit high and that the digital console is lackluster and small but then I ride that thing and it has instant torque no matter what gear, the exhaust note is bassy and it changes as the rev’s get higher, iits so nimble and pretty and the disk breaks are as big as my face and I just fall in love with it all over again.

I'm very happy to know that you have chosen a good machine.
Take good care of her, try getting the first service early. Ride slow for the first 2000 kms as per manual. This matters a lot.


I know the reliability of ABS, but take care while riding, your braking skill will actually be better this way. Just pay attention on the road and go a bit easy on water and all.

Congrats on your bike. Often such decisions are made by the behavior of the showroom staff and how good the customer care and after sales service is!
