  • Bikes with instantaneous acceleration below 250cc

    Greeting to fellow xbhpians!

I own two bikes ZMR latest gen and Pulsar 200NS. Both bikes are extremely different in character due to one being short stroke and other being long. One thing I noticed about the NS200, is the almost instantaneous acceleration. Twist the throttle anywhere above 3000 rpm the revvs rise very quick and you say bye bye to the fellow commuters. Where as in ZMR the bottom end torque is superb, I can go at 30 kmph in 4th gear without any hesitation. But being a long stroke it takes its sweet time to build up revvs and give you acceleration.

What are the bikes currently in the market that offer instantaneous acceleration.

I know all bikes with the KTM 200cc engine especially the Duke 200 offer instantaneous acceleration. I've ridden a CBR250R and even that doesn't provide that kind of acceleration.

    Please suggest!

But I think rtr 200 is faster than ns200 in 0 to 60. Post that ns200 takes lead.

I doubt that. NS200's acceleration is brutal(according to 200cc standards ofcourse), it is really quick..its like its always in the powerband except when its below 3k rpm..it just takes off..im sure duke with its lower kerb weight, shorter gearing and higher bhp would be even better than this!

I am talking about 0 to 100 acceleration.

the difference isn't such a major one, less than a second.

Since you already have NS200, why don't you try playing around with sprockets to get that low-end punch?

I don't think he wants to buy anything. Just wanted confirmation he owns the sweetest bikes in the 250cc class.

Haha good one..not really though.. 200NS is not the sweetest bike in the segment, Duke 200 is. I have been contemplating for a 250cc from quite a lot of time now. In fact started one more thread "one bike for all the roles!" I want to sell both of my bikes and buy a one which does both the roles. Seem to be getting closer to Fazer 250. Or if not fazer 250.. then i will replace 200ns with cbr250 and karizma with fz250..

The duke is a good motorcycle in terms of acceleration but the fact that a v3 r15 can overtake it on open roads (in terms of top speed, i.e.) bugs me. The ns is better in that case. But then, there's always Rs200!!

                              Hola Petrolhead!!

I recently visited the Cleveland showroom in mumbai and got a first hand experience of the bike. I have made a first impressions video on it!
