  • Bike suggestion, totally confused!

Hi, I am planning to buy a bike within the next 1 or 2 months. My budget is around 75,000. I will be using it mainly to travel withing the city with a few long stretches of roads at times. But mileage is pretty important to me. Anything above 40 kmpl will do.
My initial choice was Apache RTR FI since i am little bit leaned towards performance bikes. But the vibration problems in the bike and people talking about TVS being an unreliable company made me look for other bikes. I want to avoid Pulsars mainly because its "BAJAJ" I was looking at FZ but it has small rear seat and naked style (i dont like naked styling that much but there was some news about a faired FZ coming out???). I really like Honda Unicorn but it lacks power. So as you can see i am totally confused. Please give me your views and suggestions.
You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

I don't get this attitude of people. Why avoid a bike just because it is no longer exclusive? IMO, new P180 is the one you should go for - it is tremendous VFM and fulfills your performance criteria too.

Why don't you give a test ride to the new Suzuki GS150R.Its a good bike & you will also get an average of 61kmpl.That is what I get in city riding & daily commuting for around 60-70kms.If you want to check other users feedback you can check the Suzuki GS150R ownership thread.

I dont want to avoid pulsar because its not exclusive. Exclusitivity doesnt matter to me that much. A good bike is what matters to me. But one of my closest friends has a pulsar 220 and i ride his bike as a pillion almost thrice a week for more than 40km. And since the day he has bought his bike there has been always some or the other problem with his bike. Last day only we were having a down trip and mobil started leaking from his bike midway. He always tells me that bajaj has the worst quality control among indian bike manufacturers.

Likewise, you will find a lot of people here whose Karizma, Avengers, FZs, R15s have developed some faults and have stalled somewhere...that does not necessarily mean that those are "worst quality" products. You would be one of the first to say that the Uni is underpowered and the RTR being unreliable.

Im not defending any particular brand but what I am trying to say is that you can pick any of the bikes in the market today and you would not be wrong. It all boils down to your usage, riding style, environment and maintenance.

If you can specify your needs with regards to the parameters that I have stated above, maybe the community can help suggest you something.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I never said pulsar is a bad bike. All i said was that exclusivity doesnt matter to me. A bike that will suit my needs is all i want.

Maybe you can tell us which bike you are inclined to buy? We can discuss the pros and cons of that bike and whether it suits your usage and requirements.

I think you should wait for the upcoming RTR180, P200 and the (rumored) FZ with fairing, and then decide.

BTW RTR FI's vibrations get lesser after 2-3 services - that's what I've heard. Mine's about 800km old so can't say much about the vibrations issue. But other than that, the bike sure does rock!

If you want performance in that price range only one word RTR.About tvs being unreliable i do not think so.

I am mostly inclined towards the RTR FI. So i would like the pros and cons of it in detail. And recently im also considering Karizma. Although it is a little out of my budget but i think i will be able to shed the couple of extra bucks if it is worth it.
