  • Most Fuel Efficient Scooter

My sister started her first job and I would like to buy her a Scooter to commute about 25kms in city traffic every day. She learned from her friend's old Activa and now rides really well. I am looking to buy her a Scooter which would be practical and fuel efficient so that it doesn't have to be re-filled everyday. Here's what I've used in city traffic and I know they're not very fuel efficient. I would like to rule out against TVS Scooty as they are too light weight and won't be as stable than a 100kg+ scooter.

Activa-i: School companion for 3 years. Returned about 45 to 50 in City traffic but worsened with time.
Hero Duet: 40kmpl from what I've seen. Never seen it return any higher.
Activa 4G; Barely 42kmpl. I've this notion that older Activa models returned a higher FE.
Aviator: I'm surprised that inspite of the higher pickup, the mileage is marginally better than Activa at 45kmpl.

    Suggestions time!

TVS Jupiter, it's more reliable and fuel efficient than Activa.

        Get TVS ZEST 110
        It has good Mileage
        it weighs 109Kg
I've owned it for 8 months and found it to be quite peppy for taking 2 people on Bangalore's heavy and mostly higher speed traffic.
The only thing that it lacks is
1: Combi brake is not present.
2: Digital instrument cluster is not present. it has a very basic analog speedo and fuel meter with no reserve indicator. When the needle touches red. time to refuel.
3: Underseat storage has to be opened with the conventional keyhole at the back.
4: Fuel cap is hidden under the seat. for ladies, the underseat storage can become the second bag. wont want to show the contents of your second back to a random petrol pump guy.
5: Headlight is not very powerful.

        Plus points:
1: Telescopic front shock - better than activa - not as great as jupiter (has longer travel)
2: 21L storage with factory installed mobile charger and LED Trunk/boot light. You need to buy charger in activa/honda models and no boot light. All TVS models have this feature.
3: Useful front glove box with bottle holder - no other scooter has this. Good for keeping ladies purse/mobile etc.
4: under seat hook and front hook under handlebar.
5: comes pre-installed with ladies footrest and side stand. Need to buy side stand and ladies footrest for activa/honda models.
6: very potent engine - has the power that you need to overtake usual traffic. second best in terms of smoothness to honda activa.
        7: Mileage of 52Kmpl when riding alone and 45 two-up. I weigh 75Kg.
8: Matte Blue, Black and brown looks really nice. Black is best for men, you get other funky colors too.
9: The seat is by far the softest of all - until ntorq came to picture. I have test ridden, activa, DIO, jupiter, access, ray-z, facino. Ntorq is the softest of all.

+1 to TVS Scooty Zest 110 . My sister rides one too for the last two years & it is very very reliable & fuel efficiency ranges from 48-52 in Metro (atro)city traffic.
I too take it to my office sometimes & I absolutely love riding it. Good foot space. Under seat Storage, one of the roomiest fits a half face Wrangler helmet & a raincoat easily. Very smooth , extremely agile handling & superb pickup. Just wish the brakes were a lil bit better but should not be a deal breaker. Please ask your sister to test ride it for sure.

Sorry for the late post guys but I didn't get any notifications from this thread for some reason. We finalised the Zest 110 after considering all the points that won't be a big deal breaker. I guess we will go with it for now. Booked a test ride so far. Yet to drive it.

Be aware that test ride vehicles are not well maintained by some smaller TVS Dealers (there are so many).
So walk in to different dealerships and ask for a test ride.
Here in Bangalore, all TVS dealers give test ride without taking any information from the customer.
I would also suggest TVS Wego 110, its similar to Zest but with bigger alloy wheels, longer front suspension and better instrument cluster.
Do give it a try too, You might like it better than Zest 110.

Does the Wego have a CBS?

I am not sure of that.
I've seen CBS on honda scooters like activa and tvs Jupiter which is an Activa copy.

Jupiter is a good package, copy or not. Also, CBS-like mechanisms are available on almost all scooters. Maestro edge has one. It's a simple thing until it's drum brakes. When it's a disc brake vehicle we're talking about, it gets complicated.
