  • Triumph ST vs Ducati Scrambler vs Harley Iron - Please help me choose

Quick introduction: I am in my thirties, 5"6" in height and medium to well built. I started riding bikes from when I was about 14 years old and rode until I was about 28. The bike I owned and rode are Bullet (dad's) --> Suzuki Shogun --> Hero Honda CBZ --> Pulsar 180. Subsequently, I moved on to cars and my current rides include a Skoda Yeti and Volkswagen GT.

I haven't ridden a bike in the last few years but for an occasional ride on big mean machines owned by pals. I have been itching to buy a large capacity bike that I can use occasionally in town and for some weekend getaways, solo and with my partner. No long tours for me at this point. I would like to buy a good pre-owned bike and I have the zeroed-in on the following options, given my stature and requirement.

    Option 1: Triumph Street Twin / OTR 9.3L / Apr'18 reg / 2k kms / 6.5L

    Option 2: Ducati Scrambler Icon / OTR 8.7L / Jan'17 reg - Mar'16 Mfg / 6k kms/5.3L

    Option 3: Harley Iron 883 / OTR 10.5L / Jun'17 reg / 3k kms / 6.4L

I would love to receive feedback from members in this forum on the above bikes to help me decide on the best bike. I can think of no better place than this one to resolve my conundrum.

    Thanks in advance.

    Topic Approved.

I've only ridden the HD Iron 883 among these bikes, which I found good, even though I'm not a cruiser lover. I loved the grunt yet the relatively smooth engine with loads of torque even at low speeds.

However, take it only if you're not going to use it for bumper to bumper rush hour. On highways, awesome. It does ok even at city speeds, at the worst you're in a lower gear, but nothing bad.
Mannerisms of this vehicle are good and although it was the first big bike I rode, after my Duke 390, its power and torque was quite manageable & predictable.

At immediate launch, I found the low end torque to be better in Street 750 though, but the Iron picks up later...

I am worried about the heating issues of HD and my ability to tackle it in the hills, esp twisties and hair-pin bends. I like the ST but there are a few threads where people are talking about few issues and exorbitant costs of parts and poor service - hence pondering.
