  • Bike for touring under 1.5 lac

    Hi,

I am a fairly new rider and have done around 10K kms, combined. Out of them, 70% were done on a 2017 Pulsar 150 and 30% on a Hero Splendour.
I am looking for a bike under Rs. 1.5L(on-road). Primary usage will be on highways for rides of around 400-500 km and at speeds of 80-100.

Monthly running would be around 1000km till June 2020 because after that I will hopefully get into a college in another state where it would not be feasible to take the bike with me. In this period, the bike would be running only 30-40km per month and that too by my father.

My height is 5.7" and weight around 75kgs.

As the fuel costs would be undertaken by my father so I don't want to burn a hole in his pocket. Hence, a mileage of 40+ would be highly appreciated.
I would also like to tell you that I like to do basic maintenance and service myself so a highly complex bike like the Duke 125 is a strict no. Please recommend me a frugal and refined bike.

I have 2-3 bikes in my mind:

    1. RTR 2004V
    2. FZ25
    3. PULSAR 220F
    4. GIXXER SF fi

Please feel free to recommend other options.

From your intended usage, I'd suggest the Gixxer. It has adequate power for city riding and that occasional weekend ride. Also, looks pretty.
FZ25 also ticks the boxes but is suitable for longer rides. Pillion comfort is almost similar to that of Gixxer but mileage would be lesser due to the higher engine displacement.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I would suggest you get the rtr 2004v it as ample power for cruising at 90-100kmph and gives a mileage of 40kmpl average.. Also the rider and pillion comfort is much better as compared to gixxer and also it comes with dual channel abs which is a great safety factor at a reasonable price... The console also has the most features in its segment Fz25 is the most powerful in the given list and if you want pure brute power and acceleration then get it.. But it lacks abs.. The abs model will be launched soon but the price may go beyond 1.5L on road.. So im my openion Rtr would be good.. But then test ride all the bikes and go for the one which you feel most suited for you

Thank you guys for your valuable response.
BTW I have another query that how much the internals of the BS6 engines of the above bikes will be different than the current engine.
If many modifications are to be made to them for BS6, I can postpone buying till 2020 because IMO spare availability of BS4 engines will be a issue after 5-6 years

Most changes to make a bike to adhere to BS6 norms won't change the bike so drastically that you won't find the spares. And imo major changes takes place in the exhaust system to adhere the emission norms. So no need to worry about that.

Ns 200, rtr2004v and Fz25 would be the best choice for your requirement. Take a test ride of all three bikes and see which suits you best.

Thank you for clearing the doubt.
Personally, I like the the FZ25 but reported niggles in the ownership thread are bothering me.
NS200 is ruled out because of the crappy Bajaj SVC of my area + hard to reach components that need periodic maintainence such as air filter and spark plug.
