    2.robust engine
    3.good braking
    4.avg mileage
    5.soft ride quality

If buying second hand, always go for splendor or passion from Hero.
these bikes are not thrashed or abused as the pulsars and are usually maintained better than the others.

It would be the safest bet. splendors will be expensive than a lot of pulsar 150 and 180, but they won't give you any headache.
I myself bought a used discover some years ago and sold it within 6 months. 20 thousand rs down the drain.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Yes Ankey said, in a second hand market, avoid performance bikes like Apaches and Pulsars.

Me too faced a situation during my college days. I got a 2009 model Apache for 20k in 2013 and it raised lot of issues and sold it for 11K then.

In case of splendor or some commuter bikes, it’s initial cost itself is less and so, you can get a better bike in the budget. Also, it would not have been abused or handled as a performance one.

Mileage centric commuters are the lifeline of Indian two wheelers. A Bajaj Platina or yes a Splendor will do a good job. Another suggestion, usually a classic Splendor has a higher resale value than the upgraded versions like i3s which come with tubeless tyres and better fuel economy. You might want to look into that too.

Even if it costs slightly more, look for an used Unicorn or GS150R. Both are trouble free and will provide you a smooth ride.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Alternate bike for marketing job

You said you have a passion pro and the second bike would be used for longer travels. So the bike should have more power and comfort without losing much on mileage front. Here are my three suggestions-

                  1. Hero glamour PGM-Fi

Little hard to find second hand. Super smooth, comfortable and gives consistent 70-80 kmpl mileage. You can easily cruise at 60-70. No headache like carburettor cleaning and tuning.

                  2. Honda unicorn

Butter smooth. Very comfortable and good handling. You can cruise at 70-80 kph. Good 0-60 pickup. Robust bulid quality.

                  3. Suzuki GS150R

Again super smooth. Has overdrive 6th gear. 90-100 kph crusing speed. Little heavy but very comfy. Good mileage too.

Avoid pulsars and apaches at all cost. Most are abused like hell.
