  • Bike for daily commute + touring with Pillion??

    Hi all,
Need your help in finalizing my next bike.
This is the 3rd time. I am returning to bikes and need one, which suits to my taste and requirements. I generally cannot withstand the BS given by sales man, so I like to do my research online first, finalize and then, just take 1 test ride and buy it. so, if there is anything wrong with bike, it was due to my judgement, no regret

Just to give some idea, my first bike (by my own money) was TVS Fiero. It was an advance bike for its time (back in 2003) and i ride it for 10 yrs or so (on-off few years). I liked it very much as it had power and good on fuel-efficiency too. the only problem was finish and servicing. TVS was not what it is now. I sold it and was without any bike for 2-3 yrs. Though I was enjoying my long drives in my Skoda, there was something missing. But I was determined not to buy bike, till I find a really fine bike with all fit and finish withing my budget. then came Suzuki Inazuma. Loved it at first sight, but was beyond my budget. after 2-3 test rides; one fine day, my SA (who was a Mechanical Engineer and learning the treads in his own showroom) called me and said that Bike price was reduced by 1Lakh.

I paid full and got the bike in 2 weeks time. what the hell... i never experience anything like that. such a smooth engine, zero vibration, proper pillion seat, masked the speed as it is in my skoda. Loved it till one day. I slipped on a rough patch of road with very low speed. I could not pick it up alone. 2 more people helped me and since then, i got the fear of getting it down. the fear get into me and i could enjoy the ride. as sung by Mahendra Kapoor - " woh afsana jise anjaam tak lana na ho mumkin". I sold it to a worthy rider in 2 yrs time.

I was back to car again, and within a year, i started missing the bike. Now, I am looking again and I have my requirements clearly noted down -

    1. Zero vibration bike (single or double cylinder)
    2. Wet weight <165Kgs
    3. Good pillion seat
    4. Good ergonomics, no sporty seating.
    5. Can run 100KMPH full day
    6. Very good headlight
    7. Service center avaialbility
    8. Premium quality
    9. CC >200CC
    10. Budget <2.5 Lakhs, but can go upto 3L, if bike really worth that price.

There are many bikes in markets in this range, but first 3 criteria are most imp.

    1. Yamaha FZ250: Headlight is not good at all
    2. TVS RTR220: somehow looks to be same as RTR160 and i guess, pillion seat will not be as good as Inazuma
    3. Dominar: weight is an issue
    4. Himalayan: donot want anything from RE (personal choice)
    5. Honda CB300R: this one has caught my eyes. it has its own attitude and character. but I am not very sure on the pillion comfort.
    6. Ninja 300: have no idea, but it twin cylinder.
    7. Yamaha MT15: though it will be 150cc, but does not look like one

Need your help in finalizing. I intend to buy one in next 2-3 months and this time, hopefully I will have one, with whom I can stay for a decade at least.

    Thanks

Buy 2019 dominar, it's jack of all trades! Go to gym build some muscles. Otherwise buy fz 250 and install auxiliary lights.

Ninja 300 should .Nothing can beat the refinement of a twin cylinder engine .
