    Stuck between selecting NS160 Pulsar and Honda X-Blade!

    Hello guys, this is my first thread on xBhp so pardon me if I make any mistakes.

    I owned a 1st generation Gixxer from 2015 to present date. I know Gixxer is always termed as the king of the 150-160 cc segment but I wouldn't even recommend it to my enemy. I had such a horrible experience. The after sales service in Thane was abysmal, I spent a lot of money repairing the bike even though I'm a decent enough rider since 12 years now and the worst part is that I suffered from a slipped disc even though I rarely went on long rides and used it as my daily commute of 10 kms.

    Anyway, I'm in the final stages of selling it to Quikr bikes so I'm looking for a new 150-160 cc bike now. After doing days and days of research the Pulsar NS 160 and the Honda X-blade are what seem to fit my bill.

    I'm a 5'9 average built guy and because of my back condition, suspension and ride comfort are my main requirements. My budget is around 1 lacs (on-road) and I discarded the Unicorn owing to its looks. I'm really confused now and badly need you guys to help me out selecting a new bike. Any suggestions?

      If you need refinement, reliability and comfort, then go for XBlade. Though NS160 is a good bike it likes the aforementioned qualities. And Bajaj's A.S.S is not worth mentioning and Honda's quality is better than Bajaj.

        With 5yrs insurance, ABS even Unicorn 150 wouldn't come under 1 lakh on road. Ready to spend upto 10k more than your budget.

        If you haven't considered other bikes, test ride them before finalizing.

          Try new fz v 3 abs, it has a comfortable upright riding position with good pillion seat which is rare in this segment nowadays!

                I have a Honda X Blade. Here are my observations.

                1. Honda - so tension free ownership till now, (5000+ km). 1st service done. 2nd service due at 6000km
                2. The seat is hard - In other words not comfy - say compared to Unicorn. May be because of the riding position. Its semi sporty. I prefer straight / neutral seating position. Am 6' in height.
                3. Rear suspension is stiff. Good for leaning it but I was expecting more comfort. So with your back problem you need to check and re confirm. Please don't discard the regular Unicorn as it has much better suspension. All new latest bikes (in 150cc & above range) have stiff suspension. Ergonomic is very important. Another bike which is really comfortable was TVS Victor. I am not sure if it still sold. Looks its your personal choice.
                4. Kitna deti hain? Am getting anywhere form 45 to 50 kmpl.
                5. The led headlight is no good at night specially if it rains. It is bright but I think white beam is useless. Headlight should be always warm beam. I prefer a regular halogen headlight.
                6. I bought in Jan 2019. So I missed ABS.
                7. Stock tyres - MRF Zapper series does not provide enough grip if you wanna lean at high speed. But good enough for city and rain too in normal speed.
                8. Till now I have taken it on only one short 200km ride. Rest all within city.

                Am happy to answer if you have any more queries.

                Sorry - I can't comment on NS160. No personal experience.

                Tip: Don't test ride any bike for 2 min around showroom. Borrow from a friend and take it for a longish ride - say your regular route.

                  If you are still with XBHP and might look at this thread, might suggest you Pulsar 150, twin disc.
                  It is comfy, extremely fuel efficient and super easy to maintain. Parts are cheap and easy to get.
                  If you have a trusted mechanic then its all the more better. You may not have as responsive fun as Gixxer but the humbleness of P150 should win your love any day and every day.
