  • Suggest Me My next ride

    Hi there.
I am Vishaak, a banker by profession. Presently riding a Honda Dio 2017 model for my daily commute. It is about 40kms (two way). It is fine for the ride but due to my physique I feel strain in my lower back area. Looking to get a new bike for the commute. Occasionally, I will be riding 100+100 kms ride. I haven't shortlisted any bikes yet. My 23 year old Suzuki Max 100R isn't a feasible option though I use it for shops around the corner.

    My requirements ar as below.
    1. Budget 1lakh(+/- 10k)
    2. Yamaha is ruled out due to family reasons
    3. Height 6'1"
    4. Weight 90kg
    5. Pillion comfort equally important
    6. Prefer a flat seat or a little raised, a big no to the seat like Yamaha R15 where pillion has to sit in a raised place than the rider (forgive me for not using the right term)
    7. I own a cute belly
    8. Atleast 150cc (the more the merrier)

I thought of Bajaj Avenger, someone told a new 160cc model is coming up soon with abs option. Haven't took any test rides as of date.

Try Avenger 180 with abs, and intruder, yamaha fz v3, it has low pillion seat with softer cushioning.

I think not, try the new fz v3 it is surprisingly comfortable and has a low pillion seat height. It has upright riding posture with good low end torque.

            Hi Vishal,

I owned an FZ-S V1 from 2008-2011. It's not a bad motorcycle and has come a long way from what it was back then. Mileage and power were adequate. The only thing that bothered me was that others looked better on the bike than I did, I'm 6'2, I was probably around 88-90 kg back then. Now I'm 82 kg. So because of the height it suited shorter riders better in terms of looks but otherwise it's a good machine. You can try Honda but I haven't heard anything good about the dealerships recently like in years. You can also try an NS 160 for that matter. Checks in all the sweet spots.

            Happy riding

Pretty much all these bikes will hit the roof of your budget, in fact in most cases it will overshoot.

              FZ/FZS
              Apache 1604V
              Hornet
              Gixxer
              Xtreme 200R

And don't keep your fingers crossed for rumoured upcoming bikes. Either it will take too long to launch or they will never see the light.

Xblade and Unicorn 150 fits the budget. Neither of 'em have rear disc even as an option.
Bajaj yet to update their site. Check availability with the nearby dealer and also for pricing of these models.
              Pulsar 150/160NS/180/180F
              Avenger 180

How about Bajaj V15? seems like a good option. Planning to go for test ride in Wednesday as it is a holiday. Suzuki Intruder and Bajaj Avenger 180 are in list. Lemme know if I can test ride V15 as well

Re: Suggest Me My next ride

Haven't heard that V15 got the update.

When you go to the showroom you will know what are all available and which ones got the update. And let us know after your visit. Bajaj keep us in dark.

I thought that the old bikes without the latest safety norms can't be sold from April 1st. But some reports suggests that they can sell as long as it's manufactured on or before 31st March. It's not clear and Bajaj haven't updated any of their product listings online.

Intruder's showroom price itself cost over a lakh. Onroad will be over 1.25L.

If Bajaj have updated Avenger 180 with ABS, then it will be out of your budget.

Anyway, ask as much details as possible when you go to Bajaj showroom.
                  If it's updated, onroad price.
If it's not updated, when you can expect the update.
If Bajaj is planning to axe any products, what are all those products.
If we can expect any new product, when can we expect them to arrive.

Bro, I'd ask you to test ride from these motorcycles:

Honda Unicorn 150 (Simple, smooth and decent power)
Hero Xtreme 200 R (commuter like comfort and feel with a powerful engine)
Bajaj Avenger 180 (the true blue indian cruiser)
Bajaj V15 (I really like the look of this neo retro cruiser, wish it had a bigger engine, I'd have got this in 220cc flavour)

Finalised on Avenger 160 street. Went for Test Ride and. Much satisfied with it. Buying it before July first half. A mechanic I know will be accompanying me on while taking delivery. Yet I would like to know what all things I have to take care about while taking delivery and also tell me about break in or run in(whatever it is called). Share link of threads if already available. Thank you everyone for the replies.
