Re: Advice regarding new bike!
I can vouch for the above statement equally. No matter what motorcycle you purchase, you gotta keep it clean, perform chain maintenance at home and get regular service.
Doing that will ensure that any bike lasts long and well. Few years down the line any motorcycle could ask for replacement of parts, CBR 250 R thread proves and it's an amazing motorcycle. The best thing about Indian brands is value for money.
About the service experience, there's a Bajaj showroom less than 5-10 KM's from my home. I purchased my RS200 from a dealership 75 KM's away and visit the same people for vehicle service. Even the Yamaha guys in my city were so careless that I had file complaint against them.
Options for you:
Pulsars
Apaches
Hornet
FZ
These bikes look good and almost mean brawlers yet pleasing to the eyes. They last long with mild performance and mileage so they come as an all round package.
Happy riding

Re: Advice regarding new bike!
I appreciate the insight, my only reservation with Yamaha is that my town has only the one dealership currently, and from what I've heard their after sales service is shoddy, perks of being a monopoly I guess!Originally posted by Neo77k View PostI can vouch for the above statement equally. Also travelling 70-80 kilometres for servicing is out of the question for me.
I see you've omitted the Gixxer, any reason in particular?Last edited by skillerpal; 04-23-2019, 02:08 PM.

Re: Advice regarding new bike!
About the service yes you could be right. I travel to different city for the same reason and I understand it's not convenient at all. About the Gixxer, good machine, japanese engineering but i find them not just over priced but also I don't like the front look, not really as brawny as the others.Originally posted by skillerpal View PostI appreciate the insight, my only reservation with Yamaha is that my town has only the one dealership currently, and from what I've heard their after sales service is shoddy, perks of being a monopoly I guess!

Plus comparing it to others they never sell as much, gotta be a good reason. I hear it's after sales service but that would depend upon area to area.

I would beg to differ on the overpriced part, the FZ is 12k dearer, it has the FI though, and the Apache is 8k dearer, and it's the carb version.Originally posted by Neo77k View PostAbout the service yes you could be right. Yeah, the poor sales could be due to the service network, but tbf I haven't seen a commercial for Gixxer ever 😂😂

Yes, it appeared in Economic times. Rajiv Bajaj said that Bajaj has done something very remarkable with new Pulsars coming in June. I am also waiting for this now, only then will take a test ride and decide:Originally posted by Neo77k View PostRead some news about the new Gixxers coming in May along with a 250.
