  • New Bike : Dominar vs Interceptor 650 vs KTM Adventure 390 vs Himalayan 650

    Hello Everyone,

I am planning to buy a new bike and I have following options in my mind:

    1. New Dominar 2019
    2. Interceptor 650
    3. KTM Adventure 390 - Not sure when it will be launched
    4. Himalayan 650 - not sure when it will be launched

So, please suggest which bike to opt for or if you have any other suggestion, so please let me know.

Waiting for your suggestion and feedback on the same.

      Hi Anuj,

Can't speak for bikes that haven't launched yet but between the dominar and the intercepter it would largely be a matter of personal preference. Both are good bikes and have had their share of fans. On paper they are substantially different so a direct comparison is hard to do.

Dominar is a single cylinder, modern naked with smaller displacement. It is also significantly cheaper plus has bajaj's ubiquitous service support(perhaps of questionable quality).

Interceptor is a twin cylinder, retro with much larger displacement. It comes with a price tag thats higher(but one of the lowest among mid-weights) and RE support(also questionable). It also loses out on the widespread RE aftermarket service being a new engine with little familiarity among local mechanics.

From your other bike choices it looks like you are interested in touring and adventure biking. Here the dominar has a proven track record, though taking the "bullet" to ladakh is also a time honoured tradition :-).

All in all, test ride the bikes and go with what your heart tells you. There isn't much point in comparing two very dissimilar bikes. If you want more inputs, some clarification on your usage would help: city vs highway? comfort needed? Pillion? etc.
