  • Fz25 or Xpulse200?

    Hello Everyone,

I am Aayush from Delhi. I am 6 ft tall and weight around 65 kgs. I am looking for my first bike. Though I have vast experience with libero, stunner, jupiter, glamour, bullet 350 and am riding my friends avenger 220 since more than a year this will be my self owned bike.

I almost decided on fz25 abs as it will be easy on pocket and it had everything like 35+ mileage, do 100+ stressfree, low on maintenance and yamaha reliability. I always regretted to not own impulse as I always loved its character and easy to ride posture. Now with the xpulse launch scheduled tomorrow I am in dilemma should I go for fz25 and again regret in other part of life or just go way with xpulse.

The only thing holding me back from buying xpulse is it's power and torque figures. Though I never rode new 200cc from hero but as per review there is nothing so exciting about it. Apart from regular 30 kms commute to office i would like to go on weekend rides as well. And may be a long ride of 1500 kms or so once or twice in a year.

I find avenger to be underpowered at times. The avenger I am riding feels stressed just past 70. So I am looking for a bit excitement.

I would like to own dominar but i find it too heavy, though i rode it just once i wasn't that comfortable on the first ride. And now it costs now 2 lakh plus.

Himalayan is the bike I liked from first instance but i wasn't happy with hard gear shift and vibrations all around. And FE of 25 around and on road price of 2lakh + isn't my things.

Versys 300 is just too far far from my reach. So fz25 is the bike I settled for. But now xpulse is bike that knocking my heart again.

Buy gixxer 250, it'll be more powerful than fz. It'll be launched in this month.

Xpulse is nice but it doesn't compare to FZ 25. That's a class above. If you're confused between FZ 25 and xpulse- take FZ-25. I'm 6'2 and 82 kg, FZ will suit your frame better than the slim Impulse and it has much better performance too.
Also, as said above, there's a Suzuki launch event on May 20, supposedly for the 250 cc Suzuki, that'd be the real competition for FZ-25 in the Naked line. You can also check out R15 V3 if comfort is not a major factor.

I myself got a Pulsar RS 200 ABS this year.

        Happy riding bud

          Hi d_lonerider,
I bought FZ25 on 10-may. Just used for couple of days at Bangalore. Belive me it's a great machine to role it out of traffic. It's a torquy machine. The engine is soo refined and the gear shifts are really good for any new bike. I have been using fz16 till now. I don't find much difference in weight while riding. Breaking is really good and dual channel ABS is a great feature.

Yes when compared fz25 with hero xpulse, their is a huge difference in price. But the quality is what matters for me. I am not saying this blindly. I still have my fz16 doing well even after using it for more than a decade.

Suzuki is coming with 250cc machine which is faired version. Pricing is not out I guess.

If your budget is less than 2 lakhs, then I will suggest fz25. But it's better if you take a test ride of xpulse and fz25.

If you are looking for more of city ride and occasional long rides, have a test ride of MT15 too, it's a true beast in a city.. I did ride it.. It's light and powerful for city rides.

          All the best [emoji4]

            Re: Fz25 or Xpulse200?

It's quite simple, those bikes are from different genres, FZ25 is a street bike & the Xpulse 200 is the cheapest Adv bike.

FZ25 on its own is a good torquey bike. But compared with other 200cc bikes like Apache 200 4V, Pulsar 200 NS & Yamaha R15 (it's not 200cc but its high revving), it would lose steam in top end.

When it comes to Adv bikes, Xpulse is the first step, then comes Himalayan and Versys, TRK 302 and the sort. Adv bikes are ones you can take off-road, hit bumps with and not have to worry about.

In the end, it comes down to what you need the bike for. And I'd recommend you atleast test ride the options before setting up your mind on one bike. Each bike has its own character and you'll know how it fits your body.

Now with the launch of gixxer sf 250 we are sure gixxer 250 street fighter is in the line as well. Well gixxer is going little over budget for me. With 1.5 lakh on road budget I think Fz250 suits me more.
And here in Delhi when I enquired about xpulse 200 to near by dealers. They literally have no clue.

You can't compare FZ25 over Xpulse 200 the FZ is a class above Xpulse, even an FZ16 will do better than Xpulse. This is because they are very different machines, going by what you have been using so far the FZ25 or other models suggested by others will be better choice.

Just took the ride of xpulse t. There was seriously nothing exciting about it. Even the brakes were kinda useless. Front brake neither had bite nor feedback. Felt like riding 160 cc honda. I don't know if it was because of test vehicle because even the fuelling was not so good.

Went for fz25 test ride as well. They didn't provide test ride long enough. I asked them for longer test ride. As the test ride they provided was useless. It was test ride of less than a kilometre that too in traffic. Couldn't even upshift to 4th gear. They said they will provide test ride from their service center in industrial area. And they will call me once its arranged.
