  • Suggestions for a 150cc - 160cc Two Wheeler for a 31 year old.

After owning a Unicorn 150 2nd Gen, that is almost 13 years old, time has come for a new Two Wheeler. The vehicle will mostly be used for office commutes with a bit of long rides during the weekend. Daily commute is around 30 kms.

After using the Unicorn's mediocre braking for so long, I have decided that the vehicle must definitely have good braking and a rear disc is a must. After going through loads of research, I have shortlisted the Apache 160 4V, the X Blade (even though it doesn't have rear disc) and Yamaha FZ version 3.0. Heart says Apache 160 4V but am worried about the ride comfort on it.

Am about 5 feet 9 Inches and weight about 85 kgs.

Out of all the shortlisted bikes I can say one thing for sure, FZ has the worst ride quality.

No you are wrong ! Xblade and Hornet has the worst suspension. Gixxer and Fz have good suspension, Apache 160 4v has a good balance of ride quality and handling w.r.t suspension.

Apache has softest suspension among the 3 , but you have to lean a bit forward while riding apache, Fz V 3 has the most upright seating position followed by xblade. I think, fz will be suitable for you.

Nah, I beg to differ on that, I had the fz and still have the Gixxer with me. Had to sell the fz (with in 10 months) as the ride was bad and it was giving back pain during daily commute. On the same route the Gixxer was a breeze to ride on.

Thats one of the many reasons of staying away from the Honda on two occasions.

Apache is the better of the lot.

Thank you for the suggestions. I think I will test ride both the Yamaha and apache once again before coming to a decision. Test rode the x blade today and dint like it as much as the apache

Apache RTR 160 4V is the best bet.

Totally agree. One caveat is that TVS showrooms and service centers are usually terrible.

This I have to totally agree with. Had to try three different showrooms to find one that was even willing to offer the bike for a test ride. The one closest to where I live kept saying they don't have petrol and once outright said they don't have the vehicle for test ride but is available for biking. I laughed at his face and left.

My experience with TVS Sales is far much worse. 2-3 times we went to their showroom, and the sales team made me feel unwanted there. Just wasted half an hour each time.
