  • Need a Bike - Short term

    Hey guys!

I am in the market for a motorcycle for light commutes and touring. I currently ride an RS 200 (2015) which I am selling as it has too many vibrations and underwhelming brakes (as well as no abs).

    1) My budget is around 1.2-1.4 lakhs.

    2) I'm 19 years old.

    3) My height is 5'11.

    4) I'm around 75 kgs.

    5) Commuting, touring, and spirited weekend rides.

    6) The more efficient the better, but I don't have any set limit.

    7) Riding will probably be 70% highway and 30% city.

    8) Monthly running is approximately 1-1.5k kms.

    9) I stay in Pune.

    10) Don't have any brand preference, but I would like bikes which are also sold in international markets for easy availability of workshop manuals, as I like to work on my bikes.

I am planning to go abroad for a few years in October 2020, so I would have to sell the bike then, as I would rather not have it sitting around collecting dust.

Would you guys recommend getting a new 150-200 cc bike or a used 250-373 cc bike?

I have been leaning more towards the latter, as I would like to avoid the depreciation hit for just a year of usage.

Also, as I already own a decent 200cc bike, I would like something with more power, torque, refinement and reliability.

I am considering between Cbr 250r, Dominar 400, or Duke 390. (All used).

Out of these I have tested a Dominar and really liked the power, but I could feel a few vibes and the weight, though manageable, was a bit too much for comfort.

I would like your suggestions and any advice you may have.

    Thank you.

For short term use its always better to go the used market, I learnt this the hard way. Bought a Fzs last year knowing that I not be using it for long, sold it within 10 months.

Cbr250 is a great option, it's reliable, powerful, has a smooth engine that can go on forever with basic maintenance.

But do watch out for rust on these bikes few of them had rust issues.
