  • Jawa 42 or Mojo ABS BS-VI

    Dear bikers,

I am in a dilemma. I stay in Bangalore.

I already booked a JAWA 42 dual ABS by paying 5K on 3rd January. I love retro style of the bike. This will be my first (and last) bike in my life. I have ridden Mahindra Flyte for last 10 years, drive a Skoda Rapid (in past Punto). Never a bike. I am 45, 6 ft, normal build.

My purpose will be little bit of weekend touring, some short close to my locality. And Ladakh / Spiti Trip etc. once in a year.

Now the new MOJO ABS BS 6 also launching by next month. Already arrived @NAFS Motors LLP, Bangalore.

The issue is both fit all my check list (expect servicing). For Mojo these guys can change the head-light assembly to a round retro look, which I love.

Can you please advice me. (Do not suggest to but both )

    Thanks in advance.

If mojo is launching at the current rumored price (~2.4l banglore Inc of all) then I feel it's over priced. If its lesser then worth giving it a go I guess

I have seen the new MOJO by myself and found out of my range ( 2.4 L) and bit too much for a first time biker like me.

If JAWA delivery taken too long then I may consider xPulse 200 also.

Hi bro, if you feel this will be your first and last bike, just wait more patiently and get the Jawa Dual Channel ABS.

No better feeling than waking up everyday seeing that beautiful retro bike and going for a ride, or just look at it, put a smile on your face and go to work in car.

But I personally also feel for your height you might feel more at ease on a Mojo. Also if changing the headlight to round one on Mojo to give retro effect is fine with you, then get that also.

You can't go wrong with either of them, though begin your motorcycling soon..

            Cheers!

The engine is same in both the bikes with a different state of tune.
If you can test ride both the bikes, you will be able to understand which one suits you better.
Since you are planning to do Leh, the Mojo XT 300 would be better for you as it has more ground clearance (173.5mm) as compared to Jawa 42 (165mm).
Also the tank capacity of Mojo is 21ltrs whereas Jawa42 is 14ltrs. A bigger tank will help in mile munching on long rides as you need less fuel breaks.

As a very very novice bike rider I did a small TD in MOJO XT(old) and found it is too heavy for me to manage. I did not felt confident. So MOJO..No No.

Already booked JAWA 42 Dual ABS on first week of January in showroom. As per update from showroom I may get in October. You are correct. I love the retro look. Thanks for the wish.

thanks for the reply. In my last post I already mentioned that Mojo is not for me. You are absolutely correct in all points. But still I will go for JAWA.

Re: Jawa 42 or Mojo ABS BS-VI

I found a related video online I would like to share:

I say you go for Mojo if you want to do a lot of touring.

Jawa bikes are meant for city rides only.

If mileage is an important factor for you, buy Jawa.

This guy (whose video I have shared above Footloose Dev) is claiming to get over 40kmpl mileage on his Jawa 42: https://footloosedev.com/jawa-42-mileage/
I look best when I take my helmet off, I have a glow on my face and a bit of helmet hair ;)
