  • Confusion galore!!

    Hi Folks!

Looking to get a new ride.
Things were mostly sorted out, till a new contender came in. Heres what the story looks like:
I have a budget of about 7lac, which can be extended a bit (8+) for the right machine. I am looking at used bikes. My choice is a Ninja 1000 (MY19 model) with 1.1k kms on the odo. Mind was set on this till I saw a Triumph Street Triple RS 765. Now I am confused.
    Heres what my requirement is:
    1. Daily office commutte of 12.5kms up and down (total 25kms).
    2. Other city trips as and when needed for odd jobs.
    3. Long highway hauls as I prefer touring on 2 wheels.
    4. Pillion comfort would be needed as and when touring 1 up. However this can be taken care of using gel/air seats.
    5. I wont be doing any kind of off roading anytime, so avoiding adventure tourers (seat height).

Please suggest any other machines that you might have in mind.
If anyone is looking t sell their mchines in Hyderabad, then please PM me.

I think the answer is clear, get the the Ninja 1000 your passenger and your body will thank you you on long highway trips.

The Ninja 1000 has a bigger tank, better seats for both the pillion and the rider.

That the problem. Head says N1000 heart says Street Triple RS.
The main difference being the weight. The Street Triple Rs would be a way better handler in city traffic. Its lighter than my previous R3.

A few things to confuse you more --

High powered naked bikes are useless since they don't shred wind blast which's not tolerable at speeds the bikes are capable of.
Ninja 1000 and similar superbikes need RON 95 fuel which costs Rs 20 more per L and their availability is sparse.
High powered bikes make sense only when you're running them at speeds and acceleration which low powered bikes stress out at for long periods on end. Otherwise they're just gulping fuel.
High compression ratio bikes (>11.5) produce extreme heat apart from needing RON 95 fuel. City traffic will be a major issue.

            Thanks for your response.
I do agree with the windblast part. Along with that cross winds become a huge issue with naked bikes.
But the fuel requirement is not a mandate and the same is stated by Kawasaki as well. Downside to not using RON95 is you wont get the advertised power figures with lower grade fuel. As for the higher price of RON95 fuel, I think folks who buy these bikes would not have much concern on that.
As for making sense, from when do we bikers buy bikes which make sense? If that was the case, most of us who have owned bike bikes, wouldnt be riding them daily.
Its true that the big bikes would produce a lot of heat in stop and go traffic and handling them becomes a pain due to their weight. Still the thrill that you get everytime you swing you leg over the saddle, more than makes up for it.

Try adding toluene to your fuel. I costs around 120/l and a 13.3% mix will get you RON 95. It'll cost your round Rs 5 per L more, but it'll give you better mileage.

I tested toluene on my Karizma for 5 tanks (to see if it's safe) before adding it to expensive bikes and it seems good. But then my Karizma just lasted 25K... not sure why. Maybe my rough driving (I'm commonly on full throttle and redline when riding it).

I'm planning to test it more before adding it to my RC.
