  • In search of a new bike!

Sold my Suzuki Swish 125 in context of upgrading to a geared motorcycle, in search of better comfort and power . Had a series of test rides of Yamaha FZ25, MT15, Jawa 42, Royal Enfield Cl 350/500, TB350x and Bajaj Avenger 220. From all of the mentioned bikes, the most liked bike was the Yamaha FZ25 in terms of VFM and comfort.

My daily commute is about 30 KMS to and fro with a mixture of empty stretches and bumper to bumper traffic. The bike should be easy to work on as I perform the regular maintenance all by myself.

Kindly suggest. Excuse me for errors as this is my first post apart from the introduction post.

    Thanks in advance.

FZ is a simple oil cooled bike so it should be easier to maintain than those liquid cooled ones. It's a naked 250 cc so I'd recommend to check out other options in same category - Apache RTR 200 and Pulsar NS 200.

If I have to recommend 1 bike only from the list you've mentioned, I'd say it's the FZ25 interms of comfort, decent power, smooth engine and very good Yamaha reliability and service quality, it is the 2nd lowest priced bike in the list and the cheapest bike to have Dual ABS compared to all others.

I have finalised Yamaha FZ25 for the relaxed riding stance, road focused handling and mainly wide availability of spares. It's about 1.5L in Hyderabad, will be getting it mostly in the second week of August.
          Thanks for all your suggestions.

Re: In search of a new bike!

You have certainly selected some good names. Among me and my friends we have Jawa 42, RE Classic, TB 350, MT 15 and Avenger, so I would like to add a few things...

If you want comfort and a light machine, Avenger is the one to go for. It is very nimble and offers great comfort. The new Avenger Street is a great bike. I personally like Avenger the most because its a perfect package with a perfect price.

RE 350 is good if you want something that has good resale and is loved across India. However, my friend's RE keep asking for proper care. I like TB more than classic because of its handlebar and bigger tank size. If you want to do a lot of Ladakh touring, TB is better because of bigger tank size.

Jawa 42 is great if you want a classic looking bike that is light and quick. If you are going to solo tour a lot then JAwa 42 is a good bike as you can lift it on your own if you fell down, unlike a RE. Some of my friends have switched from RE to JAWA recently and the loved it, except for the comfort. Check this article if you want to read Jawa 42's owner experience: https://footloosedev.com/jawa-42-own...e-performance/

About MT, everything is great (in fact the best in class) but what Yamaha has is a problem of plenty and that is the price tag of MT. At nearly 1.50L it is certainly not an affordable bike, more so, as a 155cc naked.
I look best when I take my helmet off, I have a glow on my face and a bit of helmet hair ;)
