  • Whether one should buy a Himalayan nowadays?

Hello everyone, after launching of XPulse 200 my biggest question is this: Is it worth spending almost 1.30L? I think one can easily get a second hand RE Himalayan in that price in very good condition. Plus the cruising speed of xPulse is 80-90 km/h.

And should one buy a Himalayan? As we all must have seen a lot of post complaining about it's breakdown and chassis breaking problems.

I really want to go for adventure bike. So what should I do?

Should I buy a Dominar and change it in adventure bike's form?

Are you talking about buying new Himalayan? Xpulse is decent enough for the price for using in city, but on highways it'll loose breath. Where as Himalayan can easily keep up with D390's without stressing much.

If you are buying a new Himalayan ABS then eyes closed you can buy it, they have fixed 95% all problems.
If you are buying used Himalayan don't buy BS3 bikes from 2015-2016, it had all the problems. Look for only Aug 2017+ BS4 bikes or latest 2018 ABS bikes only. They have 0 problems.
Dominar is bulky and cannot be compared to Himalayan interms of flickability and nimbleness.

Good suggestion. I guess both Himalayan and Dominar are around the same weight, 182 and 184 kgs respectively. But as an adventure bike, Himalayan must be more flick-able.

Xpulse200- more of a motocross bike than an ADV. It is much lighter and has got superior chasis balance. Maintenance also would be super cheap. Better for serious offroading/ commuting. Solid build too.

Himalayan- more of an ADV than a serious off reader. The heavy weight is not suited for hardcore trail riding. But it's very good for long distance touring. Maintenance cost would be definitely higher. RE has sorted out most of its problems but I am still skeptical about their overall quality. You don't get a good impression when you see rust on 1 month old interceptor 650.

          P. S- don't follow media reviews blindly. Hero bikes require 5k km+ for opening up. A brand new hero bike will not cross 70kph or feel very stressed post midrange. This is because they use super tight tolerances. Once they've crossed 5k kms, they scream in the top end. This is one character that is consistent in all hero bikes from splendor, glamour to cbzXtreme and karizma. Media guys don't know this fact. Once completely opened up the hunk/cbz can comfortably do 100+ kph and I believe that the xpulse can also do it.

Yes , it's true, i experienced it myself. The engine tolerance of hero and Honda are so less that they use 10w 30 oil. And after crossing 10 k kilometers they become more enjoyable [emoji4]
