  • Blue guy saying Hello and asking for advice..

    Hey there xBhpians

So its been a while since I rode a bike. Almost 10 years if not more.

This is surprising for a guy who was practically born on a bike. The first bike I used to "ride" around was my dad's Jawa this was back in the 1990's

Since then we've had a few more bikes but all were sold off when my father had a series of accidents about 10 years ago.

The last trio of bikes we had were all Yamahas. Rx135, Libero, and Gladiator.

Anyways. Long story short, I want to start riding again.

My eventual goal is to get my hands on an Interceptor 650

But I want to know what other 600 - 900cc bikes I can get my hands on cheaply - DIRT cheaply!

They can be bikes that were either released in India or somewhere else. Example : BMW Funduro, Suzuki GS 750 E etc. Can anyone of you experts please suggest me some good old cheap bikes that aren't very common on the road but aren't a total nightmare to fix / maintain and can be done so reasonably cheaply?

‘Good old bike,Aren’t very common on road, aren’t a total nightmare to fix’

How about an RD350 with an RDD CDi (Upgrade from points) + ContiGT Front end with Disc brakes and upgraded rear suspension setup ?

Although hard to find a properly running and restored example and not exactly ‘cheap’ for it’s age,It still enjoys a seperate cult following. Can still put up a good show against many other motorcycles in terms of performance

The only nightmare you MIGHT face is the N.O.C,name transfering and doing the FC and that’s it.Other than that,It’s a 2 stroke Much less moving parts than a 4T.Simple carburetted twins, nothing much to go wrong. The RDD CDi works like magic unlike points which need frequent adjustment,The front disc brake helps a lot in stopping power,Day&Night difference compared to that dreaded drum upfront.

What better feeling than riding one of the world’s most iconic motorcycles, still revered and worshipped to this day and age ?

      Best of luck sir

That's exactly the bike I had in mind. But I can't find anyone selling it under a reasonable price tag. Especially when I can get two Dominars for less than the asking price of an RD350.

Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen a fully faired RE Prince in India? Were they ever launched as faired bikes here?

Yes,sadly,It’s incredibly difficult to get a realistically priced RD due to the 2T craze being at the peak for the past few years. It’s the case with many other 2T bikes like the Yezdis,Jawas,RX,Suzukis.etc, all priced high for good examples.

The Dominar is my personal favourite. What a motorcycle ❤️ But I don’t think it will suit your requirements of an old and simple motorcycle.

Also nope,Haven’t seen or heard about the Prince.

A fully faired Prince would be quite a thing to look at on the street these days.

If I am not wrong, these were one of the if not the first bikes with fairings.

So if anyone reading this has a broken down RE Prince but at least with the airflow fairing intact, please get in touch.
