for your requirements less weight, handsome power, reliable; only the Fz25 fills all the check boxes.
Its very comfortable, is a hell of a lot lighter than your current ride and is a Yamaha, so reliability and smoothness will be lightyears ahead than your RE.

Now Dukes are a good option too, but they are not as reliable and niggle free as the Yammy. Don't get me wrong they are a hoot to ride, but not as reliable or robust as the Japs.
Even the latest generation of dukes suffer form coolant mixing in the engine oil, gaskets leaking, electronic problems every now and then etc.

Take test rides of all your shortlisted bikes and choose the one that feels right.

If you are open to other options, the RTR200 with ABS would be a great contender.

Comparing FZ 25 to Duke 250/390? Wow, that's like comparing an airliner to a missile.

Duke 390 is not a city machine. If you have budget for Duke 250, then I would suggest you to get CBR 250 with its bullet proof engine, its a no brainer.

Simple thing is you have 2 options... 250cc or 350+ cc... given your budget is steep, Ideal would be 250 cc.
Now only 3 bikes are worth a mention in this category. Fz25, Gixxer 250 and Duke 250. FZ being cheapest and Duke being most expensive. For mostly city rides and weekend highways FZ should be sufficient. The gixxer will give slightly more power and torque at a premium of INR 40k. Increasing the budget by another 25k would give you Duke250, which is a different machine altogether.

Would not suggest the CBR as the model has not been updated in a long long time and now evidently looks dated.

Dada Buy gixxer 250. It is the best combo of power and reliability. 26bhp = same as legendary CBR 250R . Reliable = it's a SUZUKI ! Simple engine construction [ No headache of maintaining a liquid cooled system ] , It has only 165kg kerb weight. Price is also not on the higher side, smoothest engine in class. It has everything !
