  • Looking for an upgrade

    Hi guys
    Newbie here to the forum .I currently own a desert storm since past 5 years and the upgrade bug has bitten me hard.
    I evaluated couple of bikes in a 7L range like kawasaki vulcan
    Versys 650
    Used Triumph tiger
    BMW 310gs
    Used Triump scrambler
    Benelli trk 502
    Benelli leoncino
    Used ducati scrambler
    I know some of these bikes are of different categories but still I went for all and out looks factor for some.

    I zeroed on versys 650 though heart said scrambler.

    Please help this confused soul.

      Why don't you consider the Suzuki V Strom 650. It's a V twin with great low and mid range. Slightly faster too than some of the bigger ADVs. With spokes on the V Strom you can do off roading as well. Suzuki is giving benefits and accessories upto 65 K. See their website.

        Avoid the Benelli's at any cost. ASS is mostly a horror story.
        Though it's not all rosy for the others like Kawasaki, Yamaha etc, atleast its not as bad as Benelli.
        Based on your budget, you can also include the Z800, Z900 and CBR 650F.
        If you can increase your budget a bit, N1000 might just get included in the list.
        Do note that by far, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki would have the best coverage for service centers as compared to Ducati and Triumph.
        Would suggest to take test rides and then decide.
        Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020
        Kawasaki Ninja 1000 2019 -> 2019
        YZF-R3 -> 2017 -> SOLD 2019
        CBR 250R -> 2017 -> SOLD 2017
        Ninja 650 -> 2016 -> SOLD 2018
        Blue Activa 125 -> 2016
        Black YZF-R15 v2 -> 2011 -> SOLD 2016
        Black Discover 125 DTS-i -> 2005

                      Re: Looking for an upgrade

                      ok so finally i have the interceptor 650 in hand...Heres the story with twist and tales.

                      After having opinions and suggestions from almost everyone on the road , office , friends , enemies etc etc and some not seen great forum members here i went ahead and booked a interceptor 650 without any color choice.
                      Now i was thinking day in and day out wheather i made a right decision since i already had my sights on a green kawasaki versys 650 preused from one of the guys in mumbai.
                      Still negotiating , the deal did not go through as i lost interest thinking about the possible headaches i might go through not knowing what problems the bike could have .By the time for payment for interceptor was arranged , i chanced to bump on a Bonnie 100 preused.
                      Again lot of deliberations with known friends bought me to conclusion that i should not look at a preused bike and just go blindly for a new bike.
                      Finally decided to book a new versys 650 with kawasaki.I called up the RE guys and cancelled the booking for interceptor.Almost had the downpayment cheque ready while i was dreaming to be on versys made me think about the middle class mentality and realistic mentality .We have this old saying in our house which says spread your legs as much as the blanket is available.
                      Thought about all the service cost involved and the EMI's of the month, it did not make any financial sense to me to look at any Foreign bike which was more then 3L.
                      Lightning struck and i got enlightened one day ,had a good drink went like a shameless person to RE and again booked the Interceptor.Swipped the card right there so i do not have any new thoughts and bought the Interceptor in Glitter Chrome home.
                      Now that i have driven it for approx 100kms in 2 days i am just loving it , more due to riding pleasure and even more because it did not burn hole in my pocket.Lot of you guys must be thinking that my decision was just made by mind and not by heart and i know i am being Monisha here but thats the truth.
                      Now i have a lot left to buy a good helmet and range of accessories to choose from as they are in budget too..

                      Thanks everyone for all your suggestions .Alls well that ends well..

                            If you really want to invest money in riding accessories then i must say you should go for High Note Performance they have all the amazing and cool accessories as helmet , jacket, gloves, full body protection, and many more things. I recently upgraded my bike with Vance & Hines exhaust and S&S Torker air cleaner cover from High Note Performance. Loved the matte color with the look of my bike. I have got some amazing deals, thus, will recommend it to every bike lover I know in my circle. Great Job Guys.....
