  • Confused between what mind says and what heart wants.

Been riding a 2012 200NS. Now I am craving for a good upgrade. My mind is set upon 2 bikes. RE Himalayan & Jawa Classic. I am planning to keep the bike long term. Lifetime may be as my next purchase after this if any would be a super bike. So avoiding plastics like Yamaha or KTM.

Now I am extremely confused between both. Mind says go for REH because of the market presence, service network, big bike looks and go anywhere attitude. Heart is fixed upon Jawa. For its retro looks, design and brand name. I know Jawa is yet to prove its reliability, market presence and A.S.S but still I am in love with the way it looks and feels. Especially those twin exhausts and the baffle adjusted exhaust note.

My main use will be in city. Almost daily rides to work which is 30 kms to & fro and other in house usage. Yearly once or twice long drives (Not more than 200 kms).

    Please suggest.

Here's my take that will make you more confused..just 200 km yearly ride won't do justice to Himalayan, it's heavy maintenance bike...
        .
Jawa has some quality issues, many users reported paint peeling off within 1st week of purchase...
        .
If i were you, i would have rode that beautiful 200 ns for few more years, Save money and bought something more exotic like continental gt650,
They say "Akhir Shauk Badi Chiz Ha" XD

My eyes are on the Conti GT650 from Day 1 but the issue is my use is mostly within cities. And bumper to bumper traffic. I am just concerned about the power of the bike. 650cc for B2B traffic doesn't make sense. Heavy bike, heavy maintenance and fuel bills IMHO.

You got me wrong. I never said RE & Jawa has awesome build quality. They are OK. Don't know much about Jawa but RE sure will last longer any day than a KTM or Yamaha.

as @jaypatel has correctly said, if you are looking for a lifestyle category bike, save up and go for GT. It wont earn the most reliable bike award, but its lovable enough to have you ignore the minuses.

Hahaha.......I think you are new to the biking scene.
If this statement was 1% true, we wouldn't be spending lacs on Japanese bikes. No one says that RE has a bullet proof engine, but the Japs for sure do.

Good for you bro. But IMO, many bikes tend to get outdated with time and newer designs. I am looking for a smaller capacity, daily usable classic/retro design bike.

So the only options I have is RE or Jawa.

Get a fz 25, replace the headlamp with round headlamps ,you'll get the classic feel at the same time more performance than jawa and RE . Jawa doesn't have top end, doesn't have tubeless tyres, hard seats, unknown reliability , rusting issue, spoke maintenance and many more headaches . So think, again. But it's ur personal matter, so don't mind my words.

                            Thanks [emoji120]

I see you have already booked your Jawa. But maybe, just maybe, checkout the Benelli Imperiale 400 once.
