Yes its good for daily use,if u dont have problem with weight of the bike, actualy most of the people ride thier bikes with putting whole body weight on thier wrist, that creates the problem.one must know the technique to ride properly then it wont be a problem.

If you are not buying the bike for touring, then you can probably look at the Dominar 250. The 400cc engine is an overkill for just city riding.

Most things are same except swing arm, which is box type and thinner tyres. 250 is 4 kgs lighter but at 180 kgs it is still a heavy bike for city riding compared to other 250ccs.

        Cheers!

Gixxer 250 or fz25 would be better at City commutes

I too have a similar kind of requirements. Looking for a bike for daily office commute 40 Kms both sides and occasional highway ride. I am 34 years old and am looking for a matured bike that is comfortable for the above mentioned duties.

            Options considered are

#1 Dominar 250: This bike ticks all the boxes such as smooth ride, technology, specs, cheap maintenance since it is Bajaj etc. except that it is too heavy for Chennai city commute as per the spec.

#2 FZ25: This matches all my requirements but only issue I am seeing are the mixed reviews regarding tappet noise/ coin ringing issues and a few quality issues related which is not typical of Yamaha. Any long term owners comments would help my decision on this.

#3: RTR 160/200: Both these bikes are closely matched which does city duty well and highway performance is ok where we can cruise at 90kmph with ease. I like the quality of tvs bikes these days which is great matching Japanese bikes.

#4 Gixxer 250: I like the specs and look wise I am ok but reviews state that the bike is stiff which I don’t really want as I had bad experience with the bikes like original Apache 150 / initial rtr160s. If owners could pitch in I would be happy.

I would take a test ride of these bikes once lockdown is over but any owners comments would help me a lot. Thanks guys!

Since with your question I find that you are already inclined towards FZ25, let me share some of my experience on the same. I have been using the 2018 FZ25 for the last 24 months and clocked 20000KMS. I use it mostly for daily commute and occasional touring for 200-500 KMS range. The bike is perfect for city commute as well as occasional touring. Riding stance is also very good for longer rides as well as for traffic conditions. I face both regularly. Maintenance is almost negligible. I have not spent a single rupee except the regular service and chain lubrication in these last two years. So just imagine the quality. Tappet noise is there and as per Yamaha, it is not an issue and as I told you, I have never faced any issue. Torque and braking is very good. Mileage average is 40KMPL in mixed usage.

It is an excellent value for money product.

Thank you very much for your valuable ownership experience! I would give a test ride and see once the lock down is over
