  • New bike 200-350cc majorly for office commute

    Hi All,

Planning to buy a 200-350cc bike. usage will be majorly for office commute (daily 50-60kms) and occasional weekend Highway rides. I am 30 yrs married 5'10 with avg build. Personally I like

    - RR 310 BS-VI but I feel it may be unnecessary spend and pillion seat may not be of any use

    - Gixxer SR250 feels small bike, same design as 150

    - Thunderbird 350X - though it is discontinued, saw online that new model will.be similar but it may not suit my riding style as I like sports bike and it will be a heavy bike considering my built.

    - Duke 200 : people like its design by I don't like plus it console is too outdated consider the amt they charge. Somehow not able to convince myself for this bike also.

Please help. I am open to other options as well.

Try apache rtr 200 4v 2.0. BS4 stocks are available in chennai as of now. Try in your tvs outlet

Have a look at the FZ25. Suits your requirements.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

What about Hero Xpulse or RE Himalayan, if you like off road fun and a plush ride on broken roads.

Yes P220 and Avenger are also good options. Regular maintenance is all you need to maintain these, parts and Maintenance is wallet friendly too.

Have shortlisted with my views, please help to finalise. I need pillion seat also so that is one of the major points...
Dominar 250 - looks very basic in looks but good in terms of overall bike package

Gixxer 250 - fully faired bike with decents features but same design as 150cc

Thunderbird - might not suit my riding style as I like sports bike

Apache 310 - pillion seat of not much use plus spending 2.7 lacs for city commute (90%) is not justified.

I am also open to modifications in bike to make it more useful n improve the looks...
Will be doing test ride of each of these before finalising...

Dominar 250 will be best option.

BS6 FZ 25 is a nice option. Also if you are okay with the looks, Mojo is a nice option.

I have been using the 2018 FZ 25 since last 2 years and I find it the best among all the bikes you have mentioned below. However this is my personal opinion. And this opinion is based on the below facts:
                          1. The FZ 25 has a perfect riding posture for your height.
                          2. The weight is perfect for a commuter.
                          3. Performance on city and highway is good and has a very low end torque for city riding.
                          4. Maintenance, I have not spent a single rupee except for regular service.
                          5. Good for occasional touring. Can cruise on 90-100KMPH for hours.
                          6. Newer versions have dual channel ABS for perfect braking.

                          Cons:
                          1. Small console with no gear position indicator, else everything you need is there.
                          2. Couldn't find any.
