I'd suggest to wait a bit for Test rides, as due to this corona, a test ride is an open invitation to death.

+1 on test rides. Buy nothing without extensive test rides.

But to add my 2 cents. I was in the same spot as you with same budget. Heart said Jawa/Himalayan/Dominar etc. Booked several of these, at one time or the other. Kept test riding everything for about a year. Finally, bought a FZ25 when dual ABS came out. Its a blast to ride. No regrets at all. Weight, maneuvering, features, tank range are all spot on for me.

If you want to buy a classic looking retro bike then Jawa bikes are pretty good. I have seen many people having a very good experience. Most of them are disappointed with the company fitted seat and handlebar for bad comfort of course but when it comes to reliability, they are quite happy. (and you can always change the seat and handlebar for a couple of grand rupees I think, or for a little more).

See this video of this guy who did Hyderabad to Delhi non-stop on his Jawa 42. 1500km non-stop in 30 something hours and the bike worked so well. Though he was disappointed with the comfort to a level that he said he is going to sell it lol:

If you are not interested in a retro looking bike, you can also go for a pulsar. I have been riding a Pulsar and totally loving it till date.

I have been riding my Pulsar across India and it never broke down. Personally speaking, I find the comfort of my Pulsar pretty good too.
