  • Help choose a bike below 2 lakh

I am looking for a bike to commute to office (10 km in Bangalore) and also go on occasional weekend rides of not more than 400km (read as Mangalore, Coorg, Mysore) one way. My budget is 1.5~2 lakh OTR.

I am 5'7" and weigh 75 kg. Looking for a bike that has a comfortable seating posture, not a fan of sporty stance. Pillion comfort is also a priority.

    Bikes shortlisted (all BS6 models)

    *FZ25

    *Gixxer 250

    *Dominar 250

    *Avenger 220

    in that order.

Want to avoid Avenger for its long wheelbase. Feel free to suggest any other bike if it fits the requirements.

Dominar 250 has better comfort than fz25.
      Test ride and then decide.

And it's more powered too, although FZ 25 is more about low and middle, it looses steam at top spectrum.

Ofcoz , test ride is the only way to see things yourself.

I would suggest the Gixxer. The Dominar is too heavy. The Fz25 is decent if you were budget limited but since you are not the Gixxer is a better bet IMO as its more powerful than the FZ and just as smooth.

So I own a Fz25 and an Avenger 220. My neighbour has the Gixxer 250. So i have tried all three. I can say that the quality of materials and build on Gixxer is slightly lower of that in FZ. Plus you wont notice any difference in city riding between the two. The difference will be noticed on long highway where gixxer might give better top speed. Coming to highway riding, i found the Avenger 220 the best as it is super comfortable and agile. Gives the proper cruise experience and I always end up taking the Avenger on highways.

Based on your requirements, avenger 220 looks like a good option. It has a comfortable seating posture, pillion comfort is better compared to others too. You will also get a big visor for wind protection too. It’s also a good commuter in the city.

I found the gixxer seat to be slightly hard. Similar to what i think I had on my Pulsar AS150. These kind of seats give you butt aches on long rides. The pillion is definately harder than on FZ. Now I havent tried sitting pillion but my wife surely found the FZ seating and suspension better for pillion. Avenger pillion is the best here i would say as you have that cushion back rest and seating posture is different altogether.

Fz25 and avenger are way up on the comfort ladder but both lack a good top end.
