  • Thinking of buying a Benelli TRK 502X

    Hi everyone,

I'm 6ft tall. Thinking of buying a Benelli TRK 502X but the online reviews are so confusing. Some say it's a good machine. Some say it's not reliable. So can anyone tell me the actual review of this bike? Because I want to buy an adventure tourer and this bike comes in my budget.

    Thanks in advance

It's far too heavy with a 235 kg kerb weight, you will feel every gram off that when dealing with bad roads or heavy traffic with only a 500cc engine. Also ~5.5 Lakhs OTR in Delhi is about a lakh too much for this Chinese bike IMO.

To put that kerb weight in perspective, the bigger, more capable, & more powerful Tiger 900 Rally Pro and BMW 850 GS Pro bikes are both lighter than the Benelli. The Benelli weighs as much as the Ducati Multistrada 1260.

The BMW 310GS, the KTM 390 adventure, and even the Himalayan are better small/mid-size adv tourer buys. The KTM & Himalayan's will have a much more comprehensive service network when you are out touring.

The Versys X-300 is another option.

The KTM 390 adventure can beat it hands down in every aspect.

The versys is a good bike, with money no object I would buy it over the Benelli TRK 502X in a heartbeat. As to whether you should buy it, well only you know your finances & can make that decision. Just be aware that the budget increase is not just for the initial purchase price. Insurance, maintenance & repairs, accessories & farkles, etc. will all increase as well.

Get yourself a Himalayan or 390 adventure and remain married and happy ever after...all these high end bikes only look good on youtube videos by so called reviewers.

Versys will be better option than the TRK. You'll get a tried and tested engine and many accessories available. But the BS6 version is not available yet.

If you're planning solo rides, avoid TRK. If you drop it, you'll need 2-3 person to lift it. Even Versys is also heavier, but weight distribution is better.

Avoid a Benelli. Service costs will really pinch your pockets. And it's too heavy. Power/Torque to weight ratios are underwhelming.

Like others have mentioned, KTM 390 ADV is a much more competent bike.

If your budget is max 6 lakhs then just get a used Versys. A 2018 model should be available for that price or little more with a whole slew of accessories. A Japanese bike will outlast a Chinese bike easily and the Versys has a LOT more power than the TRK 502. The Versys isn't the best for off roading and a used V-Storm is a lot better if you like to go offroads but finding a Versys isn't difficult but finding a used V-Storm is next to impossible.

For mild offroading the Versys is more than capable and on highways it has tons of torque to much those miles along with a plus suspension setup. A KTM Adventure 390 is a good bike but its got a stiff suspension and it too is not the best for off road. Low end torque is lacking in the KTM which can be a problem for steeper trails.
