Re: Which Big Bike to Buy?
The detuning fiasco was. A near miss for me, that was the last time I had come close to buying a superbike. Z900RS is something like 20L on road. Definitely out of my budget. I'm sceptical of Triumph India and their service, but I did test ride the RS. My god what a bike. I don't think anything else in its class is comparable. It's like a Supersport with power delivery right from 3K RPM and a Chassis that's superior to any other nekked it competes with.Originally posted by Manan View Post

Re: Which Big Bike to Buy?
Well then instead of crushing the family jewels on the normal Z's 7 lakhs down payment rest loan and then the Z900RS? But then again your call.Originally posted by theEntreriCode View PostThe detuning fiasco was. A near miss for me, that was the last time I had come close to buying a superbike. But if Z900RS was the dream, but cash an issue? an RD350 will sort you out, old bike but once repaired you would enjoy the death dealing thrill of the 1980s and your cash in terms of parts and service would feed a well deserved mechanic instead of an corporate.
But then again your call and best of luck.

Triumph is past that De-Tune fiasco now. My group has atleast 3 Striples and all are happy with both the bike and Triumph too.Originally posted by theEntreriCode View PostThe detuning fiasco was. If you liked it, you should get it because as you rightly said, it is very capable and a versatile bike.

Re: Which Big Bike to Buy?
If you think Kawasaki service costs are high wait till you see how expensive Triumph and Ducati are ! :POriginally posted by Deathwing View PostMy issue with kawasaki is the after service costs which is ridiculously high
Among the high performance bikes Honda is the only cheap option. The rest are all similarly priced with minor differences between them. And you save a lot of money by going the Kawasaki route anyways so any minor differences in service costs are not really a factor.

Re: Which Big Bike to Buy?
If you are still undecided may be you can take a look at the Honda CB650R, it is a great middle weight and has excellent all round performance and reliable honda engine. It may be one the best options since you do not intend to ride a lot and want to keep it for long time. Why spend on liter class when they would be most of the time resting in your garage. In same vein you can consider the Suzuki 750 gsxr too, a nice bike with relaxed ergonomics.

Re: Which Big Bike to Buy?
Agreed Honda is cheap AF to maintain. I think the Africa Twin with one set of tire changes will still be under 30 grand a year. The tires on the others alone would be that much. Let alone brake pads and routine oil changesOriginally posted by bf1983 View PostIf you think Kawasaki service costs are high wait till you see how expensive Triumph and Ducati are ! :P

Aaah, my friend, you are completely correct and your heart is in the right place, except that none of these are technically litre class bikes, the Z900 comes close but it too isn't near the mental-ness of the litre class. However, none of the faired inline 4 sports tourers really give the feel of the other two. At the end of the day, these types of stupid decisions are taken by the heart, not the head.Originally posted by sparky View PostIf you are still undecided may be you can take a look at the Honda CB650R, it is a great middle weight and has excellent all round performance and reliable honda engine. On that note, chaps, thanks so much for your help, the decision has been made and a deposit placed. Now the long wait starts for my bike. It will come when it comes. Next Thread will start an ownership review and report :-)Last edited by theEntreriCode; 08-24-2020, 04:14 PM.

Congrats !!! Glad you splurged. Sometimes it's best not to splurge but in other cases like this one a little splurging never hurt anyone ! :P
haha thanks bro! The only thing hurting is the bank account, but oh well! I've waited a long time to get her and decided to go with the heart. Just wish I could get more riding time. I work 6 days a week, spend Sundays with the family and so get only a small window on Sunday mornings. Sadly commuting on the bike isn't an option. Definitely proper photos, review and an ownership thread will be posted on here once the run in is done.
