    Dear xBhpians,

I am delighted to be a part of this wonderful forum & this is my very first post.
Let me introduce myself. I Pavan aged 29 staying in Namma Bengaluru working as a Sr.Machine design Engineer with an avid craze for automobiles.

In past, i had ridden many motorcycles which includes Suzuki samurai, Yamaha Rx135, HH Super Splendor, Bajaj Pulsar 150 Dts-i (2nd gen), RE Thunderbird (AVL) Honda CBF Stunner, Yamaha Fz-16 & now a Honda CB shine & my Dad's humble HH CD100. I was also an avid biker & pretty aware of long distance riding etiquette.
Also, for the sake of reference, i can proudly say that i am a DIY sort of guy & my vehicles have seen service station only for major repairs

As the time passed on, Biking has almost reduced to grocery run. All thanks to slight back ache & creature comforts in a 4-wheeler.
I have to frequently travel in & around the city as well as mandatory travel to Mysore on weekends which is being taken care by my humble VW Vento till date.

Most of the times, its a solo drive always & also due to pandemic cost cutting measures, I was thinking of buying myself a used 2 wheeler for city roundabouts as well as occasional long drive to Mysore & back. After searching a while, i zeroed in to a Used Bajaj Pulsar AS 200 which I feel is a better package overall for my requirements. Moreover, i am not in a mood to invest heavily on vehicles by buying a new motorcycle in these challenging timeline.

Dear AS 200 owners, kindly tell me, whether going ahead in buying this beast is a good choice? What are all the Pros & cons of this machine? OLX ad posts ranges from 40k-75k for well-maintained low mileage type. What is the actual value considering the production has stopped in year 2017. Is there any major issue in terms of quality or overall ergonomics of the motorcycle? Kindly advise me on this front.

I am also open to other options as well. The criteria are that myself being 5'11" the motorcycle should be comfortable; quite capable for highway runs which also returns an acceptable fuel efficiency. i can compromise on slight niggles but overall quality should be pretty decent. Awaiting for your suggestions.

    Warm Regards,
    Pavan

Even i was considering the dominar 400.. Waiting for a well maintained bike sale ad to pop up. Regarding himalayan; i have decided to stay away from re moyorcycles due to annoying experience with my previous thunderbird.
Btw, cbr 250 is a good choice but looks little dated. But yes, this too has been added to search list.

Have you considered the NS200? Performance will be similar to AS200 but without the fairing. Also I've heard that the newer NS200 is a lot more refined.

Thank you for the suggestion Throttlefreak. Yes. But thought a fairing would provide some wind blast protection on highways & Hence, AS200.
I am saving up for a bigger steed in around 1~1.5 years down the lane & that's the reason i am looking out for a used motorcycle which serves the buffer period.

I would stay away from Bajaj at all costs, the post 2010-2012 models for the lack of flair are complete utter worthless garbage, if you got the money to waste then go for it.

But there are still gems in that

I had been a resident in Bangalore for 6 years in my professional career and I would recommend the Bajaj Avenger 180 original with kick, it is comfortable gives excelent mileage and is fairly easy to repair and considering the urbane nature of Bangalore does not stand out too much.

The next in line would be the Karizma, older version, decent power, cheap to run and maintain and the legendary honda sourced engine, it is an old school mature motorcycle that would take you anywhere slowly but surely.

If you are feeling daring and this is only if you have a spare vehicle and the 2 wheeler would be a secondary bike, then the Enfield Tarus, diesel mileage, bullet looks but lots of mechanical issues and need for dedicated mechanics, but get it running well and it will give you 90 kmpl.

                  Good luck.

                    Re: Need your valuable suggestions

Hello Pavan, your needs seem quite similar to mine - age, height and the bike. I too had a Honda Shine 2008-2018. And was looking for a similar upgrade.

In my honest opinion, the new 200 series isn't DIY friendly, even for a minor air filter change you have to take the tank off. Unless you're hardcore DIY guy.

Also, 2 years ago, I went for P220, this is a simple bike, perfect to work on and there's lotsa optimisations you can do to fit it to your need. I'd suggest you get one and since the parts are cheap, you could go for an OH and bring it to good condition, well within your budget. So I'd advise you get a pre BS4 model, which will get you extra grunt. If you need further info, feel fre to PM me.

Fun fact, AS200 was launched to replace and discontinue 220 and it got discontinued itself.

I suppose the windshield of the AS200 is more popular than the bike itself. Seen so many people installing it as a cheap option for wind protection.

Thank you xBhpians for all your wonderful suggestions.

I was really in a dilemma whether to for a used vehicle since the prices in used market have sky rocketed recently. All thanks to our neighbor NE of Himalayas.
Don't know about the other cities, but in bengaluru; prices have surely gone up.

Finally, got a sweet deal on one of my friend's acquaintance motorcycle since he was relocating.
The bike is Bajaj Pulsar RS200 equipped with a single channel ABS had genuine mileage of 24k km in demon black shade.
I couldn't resist anymore & hence bought it home yesterday.

Motorcycle needs a service & addressal of small short comings which will be carried out next week. Pictures of the motorcycle will be shared soon.
Once again, thank you everyone for your time.
