  • Super Splendor stolen. Need suggestions for a new bike.

I had Super Splendor 2014, which got stolen last Sunday.

Need to buy a bike urgently as I have to travel 35 km to office everyday in this lockdown period.

Thinking of buy 125cc Super Splendor again in mind with Honda Shine and Hero Glamour as other options.

Recently rode a 2 year old shine, experienced more comfort & a smoother ride compared to my Super Splendor. But over 50 km/h, it had more vibration than my Super Splendor.

    My requirements;

    1. Mileage
    2. 125 cc
    3. After riding a Super Splendor for 6 years, I understood that better suspension is needed for longer rides.
    4. I prefer a top speed of only 50 km/h for safety. But does disc brake provide more safety? My bike had skidded a few times.
    5. I also think that Hero motorcycles pays over long time.
    6. Looks don't matter.
    7. Everyone says that the Glamour and Super Splendor have the same engine but the experience on the Glamour was better.

Please suggest. Need to buy immediately.

To avoid skidding, you have to look at a bike with dual channel ABS. Disc brakes definitely provide better braking.

I'm not sure if any 125cc bike has dual channel ABS. You can at least get a single channel ABS on the front wheel.

Avoid slamming the brakes hard on a non-ABS bike. This causes wheel to lock and skid. Use a technique called Cadence Braking where instead of pressing and holding the brake hard, you pump-and-release the brake multiple times. Like stuttering with the brake lever or pedal. This will avoid skidding on a non-ABS bike.

CB Shine has some sort of combination braking system. I'm not sure if it is an ABS system. Their marketing term is confusing.

      Cheers!

The kind of soft suspension you are looking for, it'll only be provided by commuters bikes. Think 100-125 cc, since you only want to drive till 50 kmph, I find ct100 and platina enticing. Platina has oodles of comfort.

You can't go wrong with a Unicorn. I had the bike for 10 years.

2020 Unicorn is lighter, has ABS on the front wheel, more torque and mono-suspension. For speeds of 50 kmph, you will never feel any vibrations.

One thing is that it only has a one-sided single gear shift lever unlike the Splendor. If you are not used to it, it may feel a bit different initially. Can easily get used to it.

              Cheers!

My new BSVI unicorn is ready for delivering. Will get it delivered by Friday evening.

I think the new BSVI unicorn has nothing common of BSIV unicorn, expect the cosmetic exteriors.

Came to know new things, in BSVI bikes throttle is owned by bloody sensors, one don't have full control over engine rpm. Sad.
