I have been using my current Gixxer 155 for last 5 years. I have decided to upgrade to a new motorcycle now. I will be using it mainly within city and city outskirts and once/twice a month on highways. I like torque/punchy motorcycles with grate low and mid-range as well as swift handling. And also prefer lite weight bikes and of course should be super reliable. I rarely ride at top end and even in highways prefer to ride within 80-100km/hr. Pillion rider will be on rare occasions. With all these in mind I have zeroed down on 2 options. New Gixxer 250 BS6 and a used KTM Duke 250 ABS BS4 (Only done 1500 KMs).
Since I have been using Suzuki for last 5 years, I can say it fits all the above requirements. Only thing I crave in it is Power. Reliability of Gixxer needs a special mention here it has been so good for the last 5 years (touch wood
). Now if I think on these lines Gixxer 250 is the clear choice as it shares the same DNA, has grate fit finish, reliable (Japanese
), also mileage is good (around 35-38 in city) on road price 1.98k. However,
(Here comes the greed
) Duke 250 offers more features like upside down front forks, that super duke look, liquid cooling and cherry on top of the cake ...more Power than gixxer 250 (few more like radially mounted front caliper etc) also I am getting it for 1.70k. However I am not sure about the reliability of KTM (a big point for me), maintenance and lastly mileage (multiple sources say its 26-28 in city). Heart says Duke 250 as it has all the blings
and also value for money (in my case at least) but mind says "all that shines is not gold" go for Gixxer 250 and sleep peacefully at night for next 5-6 years and even more
. So please help me out here guys to make the tough decision
specially existing KTM 250 ABS owners, please share your inputs/experience. I also welcome any other options you can suggest, keeping in mind my requirements. My budget is 2 L.PS: Sorry if my question and all those if&buts make you dizzy and make you want to punch me on the face. Sometime I also feel the same.

..... Quality & reliability wise gixxer 155 has proven its mettle and hence I think 250 will be at least as good as 155 if not better. BTW Congratulations for the new CB300r. Actually CB300r was my first choice for the upgrade but drooped it as it is out of my budget. Can you please let me know what is the interval and cost of general servicing for CB300r.

but what I have noticed is KTMs don't age gracefully unlike the japanese machines.
