  • Which motorcycle fulfil my needs?

    Hello Xbhpians,
I'm 6ft tall and weighing around 100kgs. Now I'm looking for a new motorcycle which fulfils my following needs:
    1. Budget: Under 2lakhs.
    2. More than 200cc.
    3. Daily commuter of 30kms to office, weekly short trip of 150-200kms.
    4. Light on pocket, gives decent fuel efficiency and demands less maintenance cost.
    5. Comfortable both for pillion and rider. I carry my mom to school during daily commute and she sits one-sided, that's why giving priority to her. And for me as well.
    6. My son (3years old) would love to sit on the fuel tank for short distances. So he must be comfortable while sitting on it.
    7. Tubeless tyres, Dual Channel ABS are welcome addition but not priority.

Previously owned Motorcycles: RE Classic, Himalayan.

Motorcycles shortlisted but not restricted to:
    1. RE Bullet BS6 (Best comfort for all 3 of us, Vibrations have been reduced by a considerable margin while comparing to my BS3 Classic, but needs heavy Maintenance after a year, drum brake and thin rear tyres at back is a disappointment).
    2. FZ25 (feels back pain while test ridden, pillion comfort is ok, seating child - not at all possible)
    3. Pulsar 220f (clip ons make seating the child over tank non existent, aggressive riding stance but didn't test ridden it yet)
    4. Any other motorcycle recommendations are also Welcome!

Help me if you can! Thanks!

    Thread Approved.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

In the options that you mentioned bullet seems to be a better pick.but maintenance is costly. Unfortunately indian motorcycles do not offer bigger cc and pillion comfort in the same bike.
If you need try to be different the Honda highness. It looks awesome but maintanence is unknown territory.

If you are ok below 200cc part. Go buy a new unicorn and enjoy 10years and 1lakh kilometres of fuss free ownership.maintanence is very easy on pocket

        1. RE Bullet BS6 would be best but still as you have already owned one so it is better to look for the upcoming RE Meteor.
        2. FZ 25 is not only uncomfortable for the child also for the pillion than the RE's (in my opinion/experience).
        3. Pulsar 220f is also comfortable like the RE's but it won't suit the family in my opinion.
        4. Test drive the following:

        Benelli imperiale

Jawa twins (just for a change)

        Honda Unicorn

Pulsar 200NS (If you like its design)

Thank you for your suggestion sir. No benelli showrooms near me. Already test driven unicorn but it feels very much underpowered. 200NS pillion seat is very small and the tank shape is a story taller which makes seating a baby impossible. Pulsar 220F feels comfortable for my mom as a pillion and it has metal tank, which can easily seat my child. May I go for that? But as you suggestion, I'll also consider FZ25 & Meteor.

Whatever you have mentioned is very correct indeed, no powerful bikes in India is made for family. I was also excited by the launch of Highness, but unfortunately BIGWING kills my desire of owning one as the nearest outlet is nearly 100Kms away! Unicorn, I've taken a test drive but feels underpowered! Thanks a lot for your time and suggestions sir!

But I've a doubt, whether FZ25 can seat a child in tank as it is made of fibre? Thanks.

            Hi there!!

Do consider Dominar 250 or 400. I feel 250 is the better bike.

            All the best!
