  • New 100/125 CC scooter for city+ Weekend long ride

    Hello,
I'm not lazy to search old posts, but confused.
I would like to buy a scooter for me and wife.
I'm 5'7"-68kgs. She is 5'4"-55 kgs. I know to drive well, and wife has to learn.
This is going to be our first scooter ever.

We may use it everyday for 10-20 Km max, but we would love to go for a ride around 200kms round trip on weekends (once or twice per month).
70% of rides would be on smooth roads and 30% can be in bumpy or bad roads.

Can a 110 CC bike handle our requirement ? - We have to choose between Activa and Jupiter here.
Or should we go for 125 CC bike ? Many to choose from - Activa, Acess 125, Ntorq, Fascino.

While our budget is 85K, we can stretch a little till 93-94.

I have read in previous posts than disc is way better than drum brakes. It would be great if anyone can throw some light on it.

Long distance for us is as important as daily ride.

We would like to test ride, but one or two, as this is our first bike, we might end up loving everything. So we would like to limit our options and hence this post.

Please help us buy our first scooter.

      Hi there!!

I think for your requirements, I would recommend the Suzuki Access 125. 110 is way too puny for the highway. However, I think 125 maybe slightly big for someone who has never ridden before. I mean in terms of power. Weight is 103 kgs so it's light. Maybe you can borrow a 100-110 cc scooter for her to learn on and then hop on to the 125.

Discs obviously have better bite and better stopping power.

It has FI, leds, alloys, discs, visor (very useful for highway riding), dc socket, usb charger, external filling etc etc. You can't go wrong really.

      Cheers!

125cc isn't going to launch him to moon. Just be careful about the learning curve is all.

OP knows to ride. It's about his wife who has to learn.

Bro, I'm just saying 125 cc isn't too much for anyone. It's just the mental barrier we have.

For example - Duke 390 is considered to be the ride of the very passionate bikers in India. And you already know it's the starter bike in the west.
