Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
Yea Mojo would set me back by 2.60-70lk on-road (if I consider the accessories I want for it) which I think would be 10-20k premium on other bikes in the segment. So yea I would have to take that into consideration.Originally posted by alkemyst View Post

Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
If you think you can trust Mahindra's service, then just go for Mojo. As a Dominar rider I still can't digest Mojo's tank capacity. And every Mojo rider I've spoken to is happy with every aspect of the bike as a cruiser.Originally posted by dev1996 View PostYea I am not someone who would ride at 140-150. I think with this I would easily be able to cruise at 90-110 in relaxed manner. The ergonomics are what i would definitely like coming from ADV's. I am pretty much sure I would be sold after i take the test drive and would might take a decision with heart and not the brain.
(Having the impulse might just get my mojo back[emoji12])

Yea. They are allowing to have a short and extended(40-50kms) testrides over the next couple of weeks which is a good thing. if RE has fixed their vibes issues in meteor, then that is the most vfm product in the market right now.Originally posted by dev1996 View PostYea Mojo would set me back by 2.60-70lk on-road (if I consider the accessories I want for it) which I think would be 10-20k premium on other bikes in the segment. i am not talking about the cult surrounding RE, but the service availability in even the remotest corners in india. Now people can say that its the service quality which matters, but i have seen pathetic service in suzuki/honda showrooms in bangalore itself, so cant talk about service quality at this stage. atleast you will have an option of reaching out to a local mechanic when things go bad on the road, which do happen at times on long tours.
Take a proper TD for meteor, and if it ticks most of the boxes, then i would say its a better overall product than Mojo or Highness for you.I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
Agreed. But what I like about mahindra is they are willing to give a extended testdrive and that makes world of a difference as thats what I would primarily use it for, as a tourer. I guess that's down to less sales and them trying hard to sell it. I really like the effort there.Originally posted by alkemyst View Postif RE has fixed their vibes issues in meteor, then that is the most vfm product in the market right now.

Most of the other brands wouldn't allow me to go beyond a couple of km's and thats no barometer to take an informed decision

The way other companies give a test drive, they make you feel they are doing you a favor.Originally posted by dev1996 View PostAgreed. Mahindra likes to give an extended TD because they know that in 5-10 minutes, you will not be able to understand and appreciate the vehicle and only on an open road with a higher speed you will get the real Mojo feel. Dont know its the Mahindra thing, or the dealers are doing it out of their own will to make more sales, but it does make a difference for a buyer where he feels a little valued in this sense.
Usually the best barometer is to rent a vehicle for 2-3 days and plan a tour in that time, plus some city rides to get a proper feel of this vehicle. But that might not work for highness and meteor at all, unless you are ready to wait till 2021.I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

The m2all app is a joke. You do get the parts, but they take their own sweet time to dispatch it.Originally posted by dev1996 View PostAlso I see parts listed on 'm2all' app which is Mahindra's official app. So have the existing owners tried to order parts from there? If yes, how long does it take. Are most of the parts in stock when you order them?
I had sourced the tyre hugger from it. They took 20 days to dispatch it and another 5-7 days to deliver! Never looked at it again. The other sources I mentioned earlier have much better lead times.
I have ordered various parts from NAFS Bangalore as well as from a fellow Pune tribe member who deals in Mojo spares at different times. I've gotten them in hand within 3-5 working days from placing the order.

Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
Totally agree. Saw the meteor in flesh yesterday...The bike is a full generation ahead of everything the RE has produced so far. Fit and finish wise it is better than the Twins. I found lots of attention to detail which is a novelty with RE. Though I did not get to drive it...The bike revved completely vibration free. The seat looked large well cushioned and built for long hauls. Take a TD of meteor and then decide.Originally posted by alkemyst View Postif RE has fixed their vibes issues in meteor, then that is the most vfm product in the market right now.

I am convinced that this is a good tourer.

I am convinced that this is a good tourer. So I just took the TD today and I was sold off tbh. Drove it for a good 24-25km on highways and in decent traffic to get some perspective. Here's my findingsOriginally posted by alkemyst View PostThe way other companies give a test drive, they make you feel they are doing you a favor.

PRO's
1. Arguably the most refined engine ever made by an indian manufacturer.
2. The front headlight is still heavy but that actually aids in straight line stability and gives it that distinguished look.
3. The taller seat height and the riding dynamics makes it commanding and easy to ride.
4. The rake angle has been revised and now the bike is really flickable and yes the u-turns are easy.
5. It is a heavy bike and you feel that when you get on it. But when you start riding it, it feels a lot lighter and confidence inspiring.
6. The linear power delivery is brilliant. Its not really aggresive like dominars or the ktms. But when you really wanna pull you have a considerable torque at your disposal. That makes it so friendly for people like me upgrading from less powerful machines.
7. The suspension tuning is almost perfect. Its neither too hard nor to soft. Along with with that wide and spacious seat and ride on air/fego float this might be the best touring dynamics currently.
8.The styling is polarising but to me personally it feels unusually nice. It feels premium and with that massive fuel tank you get a feeling of riding a more premium bike.
CON's
1. The paint on the bike felt really dull and faded. Probably because it was a test bike and wasn't maintained or washed/polished well.
2. Low speed stability is a issue with that massive headlight unit at front. I felt there was some fork issue as the bike tilts towards one side if you aren't firm on the handles. I just felt that coming from very flickable bikes in impulse and xpulse.
3. The brakes are now from bybre but they still lack that bite or probably it being a test bike they might have been worn out or not maintained well. Expensive pads from ebc might solve it.
4. The gearbox was clunky and I didn't quite get that feedback while shifting gears.
5. The clutch wasn't too hard but you feel the need for slipper clutch.
6. You really want something like the gear position indicator and distance to empty in such a motorcycle.
7. You do pay a premium price for this compared to competition. 2.53 lakh onroad for top of the line varient.
If I consider the accessories (engine guard, luggage rack, bash plate, handlebar risers, radiator guards, fork gaiters, led lamps, touring sprocket, windshield and some essential spares to stock), the onroad price jumps to
2.70-2.75 lakhs on road.
Thats a pretty interesting proposition as you get close to interceptor's ballpark. Also a lot of cruisers(meteor, h'ness, dominars) might come to 2.50-60 lakhs on-road with most of the accessories i mentioned above.
With the absence of ASC ,spares scarcity, dwindling sales and paying a premium of 10-20k still worth it?
I might take another extended testride in pune and try to overcome that dilemma.
But based on today's experience ,my heart really does incline towards the mojo and I think it would be worth the premium and trouble.

You sound like you are almost finalized on Mojo when it comes to heart, but again you are questioning it when you add the calculations. In this scenario, I would say if you are sold on the machine, dont look at the calculations, because they would just end up tormeting you.
I bought it from the heart too, keeping the calculations and friends' advices aside, but as of today I am kinda tormented with it. Starting from 2nd service, it has kinda become more rough and vibey in low rpms, and thats the zone where we drive the most in the city. Very few people from the tribe faced the same issue and others seem to be happy about it being smoother day by day. So, I might just be unlucky in that case. Now, to verify my lack of fortunes, being in bangalore, I will have to ride one hour up + one hour down + waiting time + fixing time, which means half a day or a full day just to get some minor niggles looked into. Which might be okay for a lot of people, but once you have a busy life, you cant afford to make day/half-day trip to dealership just to get minor things looked at.
You will be in a similar situation with Honda highness too even if the machine is awesome.
For reasons different from above complaint/hassle, I have planned to let go of my bike and now the "calculations: are biting my rear. as the resale value isnt good even if the vehicle is almost new.I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
Exactly. The thing is the test bike had just done about 2.5k and the gearbox was too clunky and the bybre brakes had no feel and bite to them tbh. Probably thats coz its been abused being a test bike and not properly maintained. And the low speed stability was a issue definitely.Originally posted by alkemyst View PostI feel the 2nd con on my bike as well. Mentioned it to service rep as well, but they dont see any issue. So that isn't justifiable tbh and it sorta put me off a lil. But then again the highness, meteor and twins are too conventional in looks which is how most tourers in the price bracket are. The dominars are probably a lil viby but excellent vfm. But for some reason I just think this machine has a stellar road presence you can't get for the price and the engine and that linear power delivery is just brilliant.

Re: Search for the near perfect tourer
Gearbox clunky - Yes! but i have no complaints in the braking department. The rear brakes arent very effective, but I was told at the time of test ride itself to use 70(FB)-30(RB) for braking. It requires a bit of a learning curve.Originally posted by dev1996 View PostExactly. Low speed stability wise also I dont have much issues except the handlebar tilting towards one side if not held firmly, but this is fixable.
A lot of people consider Dominars as vfm but i didnt like the riding triangle, front heaviness (more compared to Mojo) and non linear power delivery. I took one TD for D390 and never wanted to go back to check it after that. Hearing good things about D250, but I am not sure it would be much different in terms of riding posture.
Mojo definitely got some good road presence and as there are very few on the road, it does give a bigbike kinda feel and catches too much of attention around. If that is a positive factor for you, even better.I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

Yea currently they dont have any a showroom Operational in a city where they have their R&D center. I have also been told they are working with autologue designs to create a lighter twin pod headlight like triumph street triple. I hope things changeOriginally posted by alkemyst View PostGood luck wiht that! People have been waiting for 5 years for it to happen, but those things are growing at a snail's place.
