  • Is Meteor 350 a good fit for me ?

Hi. I am 35, 6 ft tall with medium built. I am looking forward to buy my first motorcycle. I am more into laid back and cruise riding. Buying a cruiser was always a dream. Currently I have two choices Meteor 350 and Honda CB350.

Honda CB350 is not available in my city and I don't think it will be available in months to come. I am left with Meteor 350, will it be a good fit for me ? Also, I am beginner, mostly used gearless scooters all my life, with occasional bike rides.

I will mostly use it for my daily commute (10-15kms) and rides on weekends (100-150kms).

It will be good fit for you. But it will be heavy, please take Test Drive of Meteor 350, CB 350 & Jawa.
Also it would be better to buy a commuter (125 or 150 cc) to learn proper gear shifting, cornering, swerving, emergency braking & trail braking before buying a Touring machine. I have learned the importance of these techniques the hard way.
Also please invest in 5 essential riding gears such as
      Helmet (atleast S.H.A.R.P rated)
      Riding Jacket
      Riding Pant
      Riding Gloves
      Riding Shoes

In terms of power/torque, it's not a lot. Perfect for someone getting a first motorcycle. Weight might be something you might have to get used to for someone who is coming from scooters. Which will also affect the maneuverability. Test ride both bikes and then decide.

        Cheers!

I'm 6"2 and a non RE guy all along, currently riding FZ250. I was hunting for new bike from last Nov. I went for a brief test drive of Meteor, with and without pillion, and instantly booked it. I wanted to wait for CB350, but unfortunately the dealership isn't available yet in my city. Also, CB350 was dearer than Meteor, and I didn't see a point to wait for CB350 as I loved the riding posture, power delivery, suspension, brakes, and ride quality. My use case is almost similar to yours, and the bike always has the flexibility to be pushed little bit. Unlike older TB350, Meteor has almost nil vibes at 80kmph, and very slight ones at 90kmph, both with pillion. So Meteor would easily fit your use case. Again, only a test drive will give a concrete answer, so please do one.

          Cheers!

I think it will be good fit for you. The new 5-speed gearbox is smooth and slick, and it also has shorter throws than the old one, which is nice. The clutch is slightly on the heavy side in traffic, but it has good feedback and is easy to modulate – a slip-and-assist system would have been nice here.
