  • Suggestion for 250+ CC naked sport bike

    Hello,

I am a recently graduated college student and until recently had a Yamaha rx-135 (1998 model), which I used during my college days. I am looking to upgrade to a more powerful bike, to go on weekend rides and office. Never having owned a fully-fared bike before I am a bit skeptical to go that way, especially for city riding. My on road budget is under INR 3 lakh. Initially I considered Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, and Duke 250,but after going through several forum posts here, I am concerned about the long term (5-7 years) reliability and maintenance cost of these bikes.

As of now, I am confused between waiting for the upcoming RTR 310, from TVS, and the BS6 CB300R, or possibly something from Suzuki/ Yamaha as well, owing to their more reliable Japanese engines, or going ahead with the Swedish manufacturers (Duke and Husky).

Kindly help me with any suggestions and/or advice. Thanks a lot!

    Summary of stats:
    Engine Capacity: 250 CC+
    Type: Naked Sport
    Budget: < 3Lakh on-road.
Preference: Reliable engine/parts with some thrilling riding experience.

    Rider Height: 5.5ft
    Age: 23 Years
Riding Experience till now: 8 Years.

PS: Not FZ-25 please, I know it's a popular choice but it's not for me.

Why are you not considering faired bikes? Theres nothing to be scared of them in the city. I have P220, which is semi faired. But the fairing isn't a nuisance in the city. Instead, you'd love the aerodynamic advantage on highway cruising.

Haven't had any prior experience with faired bikes, so a little concerned about buying them.

Get a long test ride of the Gixxer 250, this coming from a Honda CB300r owner.

I understand your concern about faired bikes. Nakeds are my first love but my current bike is the R3. I too was skeptical having never ridden or owned a faired bike ever. Best decision ever. Most faired bikes in India in this class has comfortable and relaxed riding position except RCs. Yes, fairings means there are more chances of scratches and if they get damaged, they look really ugly and that's another cost to consider. Also, more surface area to clean. But they are the best lookers and complete the sports bike look. Also, if you wanna work on your own bike, to do service and maintenance, the fairings can come in the way. I would suggest, do consider faired bikes also. On highway rides, it will give you some wind protection and the aerodynamics might also help in some way.

Are you considering the BMW G310 R? Apache 310 RR?

              Cheers! All the best.
