  • Bike upgrade from Avenger 2005 model

    Hi,

I am planning to sell my single owner driven Bajaj Avenger Silver colour. I have shortlisted Pulsar 180, Apache 180 and Unicorn. The Pulsar 180 UG 4 is value for money, although after using avenger, i am not confident about the quality of parts used by Bajaj. I have never driven a TVS bike apart from the one of TVS victor (lousy bike).

I require the help of xBHPians in choosing a bike. My budget is Rs. 75,000/-, i drive for around 20 Kms daily (mostly short commute), i drive for around 60 kms on weekends. I am looking for comfortable suspension (avenger rear shocks are pretty hard), stability, quality of auto parts, after sales service.

I look forward to your valuable views. Thanks in advance.

Apache 180 is a better more exclusive option or the new P220 also sits in your budget
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

avy 180 to pulsar 180 is not at all a upgrade
avenger 180 engine is the same pulsar 180 engine tuned for a different kind of performance - cruising

so it makes no sense at all to me

i suggest wait for some time because new bikes are in queue of launch
for 5k more you ll get new P220
so bear with the avy for sometime

        cheers
Hope is a good thing ,

reg: new bikes in the offing..

Thanks maniac...You're right..P 180 is basically the avenger in a different guise. But in the case of P220, i am not very convinced of its large fairing. TVS Apache 180 looks good in its white avatar.. I also heard that Honda is on the verge of launching an upgrade to Unicorn in the coming days.

The road test by zig wheels on P220 UG2 (or is it down grade) is an interesting reading. I am not too fond of its fairing (although the headlights are really good).

              my pleasure

apache has a vibrations also man......i dont favor a bike who is like a beast but a person cannot enjoy it because it shakes like hell
test ride and see if you could cope with them

and i cannot assure anything launching or not.... but if its a honda
              its worth waiting ....
if u wanna test ur patience

dont trust too much on road tests
finally it depends on the rider n his skills too
              so trust ur test rides

and the best thing will be if any friend of yours has the bike
              ask him for a ride...
go on a long ride and decide

Thanks for the sane and insightful views. Yeah i've heard about the vibes. Avenger does not have any...but the quality of bajaj auto parts leaves a lot to be desired. i have done close to 20,000 in 4 years and already the silencer has rusted. I have to replace the silencer in the next couple of days (i dont park the bike in the open during rainy season, mind you)...
